hi,I recieved this letter in the mail this afternoon from sprint.... Dear Kartel Thank you for your recent application for wireless service from sprint. In considering your application, we reviewed the credit history records availabe from a consumer reporting agency.Based on the information in those records, we cannot approve you forthe service on the terms you requested. however, you are eligible for the sprint spending limit program, which will have an account spending limit and may require a per wireless device service deposit. your application for service on the terms you requested was not approved beause of the reasons listed below. RISKWISE AIRWAVES treated decision Limited Credit Experience i've set my alarm for 8:30 so i can get to the store as soon as they open to get some answers but before i go i'd like a second source of information so i dont have to accept everything they tell me because i don know otherwise. well i know what the limited credit experiece is cause i'm only 19 but i dont see why that should matter..... but whats the risk wise airwaves treated decision? the letter states that they are "Considering" my application service but i picked up this phone and plan nearly 2 weeks ago from the sprint store. and i'm also wondering how when the sales person took all my information to do a check on me she didnt mention anything stated in the letter to me. it would have been nice to know these issues before i payed the activation fee and $200 in advance to go towards my future bills and i doubt i have bad credit because this it the only thing i have thats in my name that i make payments on:loony:
Sometimes, having no credit is worse than having slightly bad credit. You're a risk because there is no information to base a credit score on. They don't know how you're going to pay your bills because you haven't had any bills to pay, for the most part. You may be required to pay a depost to keep service.
That sounds like some sort of program Sprint has for those with no or bad credit. I can't say for sure as I don't work for Sprint and I've never had service with Sprint. You might ask larry, who is one of the resident Sprint experts.
I think they should have told you that a deposit was required before they sold you the phone. Usually a credit check is done at the store before you sign the paperwork. Sounds like someone screwed up, or the store approved it, and some dept in Sprint is trying to micromanage it. Either way it isn't right. -Jay
I got one of thos letters from sprint stating I was not approved for wireless service because of RISKWISE AIRWAVES TREATED DECISION LIMITED CREDIT EXPERIENCE I spent all day today trying to figure out what this means especially since i did not sign up for new wireless services because i am already a customer of sprint. In all of my research and talking to folks on the phone i did find that the company who provides sprint with the riskwise airwaves service is a company by the name of lightbridge. They informed me that they provide sprint with a third party credit verification service and are not a credit company. I asked where they get their information and I was told they only use information sprint gives them. He was very evasive but I will be calling back to find out what type of info they are collecting. He referred me back to sprint who could not give me any anwers. http://www.lightbridge.com/aptrix/ltbgdotcom.nsf/Content/Credit+Decisioning~AirWaves[/URL]
It's funny, when I got my first cell phone several years back I had no credit what so ever. The carriers were more interested in having the customer numbers than the credit. They just wanted to sign up subscribers. Good thing I got one then.
These days, if you aren't in debt up to your eyeballs and eating Ramen noodles three times a day, you may be a credit risk.
