I was wondering if anyone ever gets erroneous listings, gets a residential phone number instead of a proper business number, or is led to address listings that do not exist, either ever or in the last few years when they do a business search with VZ Navigator.

I have been a customer of Verizon since 2003 and user of VZ Navigator for as long as I can remember. Through three or so phone models anyway. But today I finally canceled because of the recurring completely incorrect information and the lack of response or improvement in the last three years.

The problems I experience are most commonly a listing that is not where it says it should be. Granted, I know databases can only be updated periodically, but the sheer number of items I run into seem far more than anything that appeared or disappeared in the last year in new construction. I have told them about improper listings, and it has shown a US Bank grocery store branch across the street from my house for over a year that does not exist.

Another problem related to the one above is a listing with no phone number attached, or a number that is completely wrong. I tried looking for a US Bank today in Bellevue, WA and the two nearest listings had no number attached (possibly ATM or store branch?), and could not be found by following the map. I called the 3rd one in the listing, and I got a residential home answering machine.

The kicker today was trying to find a US Bank store branch in a huge Safeway store I knew was close by. It showed stores 2.5 miles in either direction along a major highway, but not the Safeway right in front of me (which is the largest one in the area and is at least 3 or 4 years old.) It didn't even list the US Bank branch inside of it.

This is one example of the unreliability that has cost me a lot of time and money.

In contacting Verizon, I usually go through the process of troubleshooting with a tier 1 tech support person and I do a version check, software update, *228 tower update, recycle the power, "make sure" location management is activated, and am referred to the Verizon wireless location management webpage. I can never get past anyone to a level that will actually acknowledge a problem or work to fix it. It is usually a trouble ticket that gets stalled with a tier one canned response by phone or email and never a solution.

These things all have nothing to do with the problem, and I can never get a straight answer as to where their database comes from or how it is updated. It is by far the crappiest search tool I have EVER used, and I usually resort to spending the money on a 411 call. They are much more accurate, and if it is a bad number, at least I can call them back for a credit. It will be cheaper than $10 a month. Hell, my Magellan GPS with an outdated map version finds more in certain situations.

One associate said that 411 connect uses the same database as VZ Navigator. I'm calling shenanigans on that one. Shame on me for giving them 5 years to improve it. :/

I'm going to YouTube todays experiment by filming as I sit in the Safeway parking lot and have VZ Navigator show the nearest Safeway as 2.5 miles away, and then call the number attached to the US Bank branch in Bellevue and get "Grace, Genie and Alan's" home answering machine. Maybe that will get them to respond.

Looking for opinions, suggestions, or similar experiences!

    Thanks

Your not the only one that finds stuff missing in VZ Nav. I've worked at this one place for 7 years and they have yet to even add the roads to get to it.

Thanks for posting this info about the VZW navigator service.

I had been considering trying it out in instead of purchasing a new stand alone navigation device to replace a Garmin C340. But now I think I would be much better off with the stand alone PND..

of the reviews I have read about the navigator service one of it's selling points had frequently updated maps and POI's

    Thanks Again :)
