I had emailed t-mobile to give me the unlock code for my nokia 3390 voicestream branded phone that was used on their network for 2 years.. In any event, they responded and gave me the unlock code for the phone followed by instructions and it doesn't work. I get a code error message and the phone reboots. I emailed them back and verified the imei number and they wrote back insisting that the unlock code for the given imei is correct. Now what do i do? Something must be wrong.
Maybe you had different IMEI on the record with T-Mobile. AFAIK they calculate subsidy codes from IMEI which they have on file. If you did handset exchange (warranty or whatever) then IMEI would be different. Call them from landline, tell them your IMEI and request a correct code
Thanks for the reply. When i requested the unlock code, I had given them the phone's exact IMEI. They also asked for my location..etc.. But i was given the wrong code. However, this morning i was emailed the correct unlock code for the phone. Apparently there is a EAST and WEST coast version of the code i guess.. because the wrong code they gave me for my IMEI was EAST (I live in New Jersey). The new code they gave me was WEST and it worked so i am happy now.
