Would anyone be interested in joining a chat session (preferably on a weekend when a lot of people would be available to chat) on AIM?

We could designate an official time that would work for everyone. Like I already said, a weekend (like a Saturday) would work the best imo (at least for me). That way people won't have to go to bed early since the next day is a Sunday and not a work or school week. ;)

Please vote! Thanks in advance. :)

    Thanks WiggyFife.

Well, you could always get one for free once you download AIM. :D

That seems like a great idea, I don't use AIM though so I'd have to get it before we do it, but it sounds like a plan. :)

It depends when it works with everyone else.

It looks like the best day for me would be September 10 (on a Saturday). Since a lot of people live in a different time zone, I would suggest to have two different times on the same day (especially for memebers that live in other countries...you know who you are ;)).

So as of right now, how about a tentative date of September 10 and the times would be at 3:00 p.m. EST and 11:00 p.m. EST.

That way, if you can't make one of them, then you can join the other time.

Also, how would we all get each other's handles? I guess PM them. I already know some users' handles. ;)

How does this sound for everyone?

For those that don't have AIM software, I would suggest a alternative called GAIM, multi protocol and platform IM client. I use it and really like it.

Sounds like a good idea Gamer. I'll try and be there if I can.

Works for me :D, It's be either 9 PM or 2 AM CET for me then but as long as it's on a weekend, I don't care about the time :D.

Another multi-IM app that works well is Trillian:

My vote yes. And try Trillian. It works with Aim along with Yahoo messenger and a few others.

Well it sounds like a plan to me then. :)

If anything changes, I will let everyone know about it.

Maybe we could make this a regular occurring event. How does that idea sound? We could possibly make it a sticky at the top of certain threads.

Re: Would Anyone Be Interested in Having an Official WirelessAdvisor AIM Chat Session

Gaim users can add a "chat" (like a buddy) that will be a link to a specific chat room. Me and some guys at work all did this so we don't have to invite each other when we want to use a room. We could do this for WA and AIM users could get in the room whenever they want to see who is there and what's going on. Then, you can still schedule a time to get together if you want and the place will already be determined unless you want something private.

Well everyone that wants to join should PM me your handle. I will then add it to my buddy list.

I think we should have two people be in charge of the chat session. What does everyone think about that?

If nobody wants to download programs, I have PHP chat software on my domain and all you have to do is go to the site, fill out a small form that doesnt require any email verification or anything, and then log in and choose the chat room! Then you are in! Plus it gives me a reason to use the chat software! I think it is at www.solidus.nu/support right now (it was intended for support for my hostees... but I dont have any!)

By the way.. the chat would be in the default room if we were to set this up so you know where to go when logging in.

VoIP is great, but probably not suited to a lot of people getting together. I use it at work for 1-on-1 and teleconference with a co-worker in Knoxville.

What if we got a Jabber server (like Google Talk) on WA.com? Then we could use our current login for WA Talk. Think Roaming Zone in real-time. Support for AIM/MSN/Yahoo!/ICQ protocols and file transfer wouldn't be necessary.

This sounds good to me, if I get the kids off the computer. I guess the 11 PM would end up being my best time, since 3 is tough to get on.
