Well, right now i work for a bank and make less that $1000.00 a month, however for the work i do i should be getting paid at least 2-3k a month. if i take the job with Cingular i will make not only hourly pay, but commission as well, and the hourly pay is more than i make now. Bennifits included, plus 2 weeks paid vaca. plus i can earn up to 4 more.

I hope that after this merger and name change that Cingular will get a boost from the larger corporation profile. Cingular seems to be doing better every quarter. Good luck on your choice.

Do you own stock in Cingular?

I'm a little confused by this point of view. Even if I was a Cingular customer, I would hope that Cingular would start losing customers and doing worse since they are the largest provider in the US. This would force them to make better plan offerings and give better deals to consumers. The way things are now, Cingular seems like one of the pricier providers that doesn't bother competing with other special promotions because of their growth and subscriber base. Cingular has nothing to worry about in terms of going out of business but the consumer has a lot to gain by a decline in business. But that's just my point of view as a wireless customer. :)

If you keep up with the industry you would know that Cingular is owned by AT&T and BLS. There is no separete stock for Cingular. I have an Allhell phone through my work and hope to change it out when our contract runs out. Have a nice weekend.

I have no idea why you're so bitter. Geez, take a chill pill and relax because you've obviously had a horrible day at work. I just don't understand your logic. And for the record no I don't keep up with stock unlike some others on this site. I'm just interested in cell technology.

But that is the very difference between us. I don't feel bitter at all toward Cingular. I think they are a great provider that provides very good service to millions of people. I also realize they are a little more expensive than other providers. But as to who has the best coverage, that's very location specific so I wouldn't trash-talk Cingular's network, even in the location I live just because that just incites anger in some people and others may not have the same opinion. If you don't like the service just don't use it, don't try to talk it down because it's not right for your travels.:banghead:

UFO is right. Every carrier has areas where they are superior, and areas where they just plain suck. Cingular works very well in most areas I frequent. But they have sucked big time in other areas. It just depends. I can give a + for all carriers here and I can bash their heads in too. But, instead, lets just have fun while we are here

blsemp, we are getting tired of you saying "allhell" in so many of your posts. It is childish and uneccesary. I choose Alltel over Cingular and you choose Cingular over Alltel. Alltels sucks for you in upstate SC. Cingular sucks for me here in Charlotte/Mecklenburg. That is fine. Everyone is welcome to their own opinions and I respect that. However, I never use derogatory comments towards Cingular or any other carrier(I save that for Suncom  ) But please lay off the unprovoked "allhell" comments.

I am sorry that this upsets you. I have a right to my opinion just like you. You listed Allhell more times in your previous response that I have in the last 2 months. I am displeased with their service in Greenville SC. You have degraded Cingular in a lot of your post. You have a right to if that is the way you feel. Welcome to the land of the free. I have not cursed or slandered you in any way. You must be taking this personally. I started in this post wishing someone well on their decision concerning a job. Then I was asked if I owned stock in Cingular with the next statment wishing Cingular would lose customers. I don't criticize you so please don't criticize me.

Again CHILL and have a nice weekend. This conversation is over.

I think you took offense to this now that you mention it and I'm sorry, I didn't mean it in any bad way. I truly meant that as a question I was curious about and was in no way trying to offend you.

I just really find it odd that somebody would hope that Cingular, the largest mobile provider would grow and gain customers from a boost from a name change. The way the market is now, Cingular is considered one of the most expensive providers on the market that doesn't compete pricewise with other carriers with the possible exception of Verizon. They don't compete because they are the largest and feel their service is a premium and should charge higher prices. As a consumer, I want lower prices, and it's simple supply and demand that if Cingular gains customers, prices go up. If they lose customers prices go down. So, to me, it just makes sense that Cingular customers, and people considering Cingular, would want a downturn in business so that their prices drop. Personally, I don't care how Cingular as a company does but I do care how much I pay as a consumer. I was not hoping Cingular would lose customers, I really don't care because Cingular's prices don't influence my finances.

Your point of view is odd because in no other industry would a consumer hope the big got bigger. Nobody says they hope more people buy from Microsoft, Exxon, or Wal-Mart, except stockholders. It's just hard for me to believe that you hope Cingular becomes a larger company unless you are a stockholder. I wasn't saying that to offend you, I really was curious as to whether or not you were a stockholder.

UFO's thinking is demonstrating a kind of consumer advocacy. Supporting ma and pa over Walmart. It's a good thing. It's too bad that most don't care. Our country would be a lot better off if we all did. But this is pointless to this thread and off topic.

Jordan2005: Go get that job. Sounds like much better pay then before. Granted it will likely be a little more stressful, but ultimately more worth your time.

I am interested in the technology....and very interested in the stock performance of many companies involved in the industry. They are either, customers or competitors and I own stock in several. I don't understand why you refer to those who watch the stocks as if they are less valued a member. I know, not your words...but that is the contextual inference to be made.

Sorry to have made that inference and that's not what I intended. If anything a stockholder's opinion may be more valuable because of the excess research they have performed on the company, but certainly not less valuable than anybody else's opinion. But I do believe that being a stockholder does lend itself to certain biases in regards to wishing how companies perform that are in contradiction to what is good for most people. I just merely didn't understand the line of logic and was trying to gain insight into his line of thinking.

In the context I made that quote, it was just in response to bslemp explaining that Cingular stock was owned by AT&T and BLS and just meant that I don't own stock ... in anybody so I didn't have a clue who Cingular was owned by.
