Talked to a Nokia authorized svc center here in OC, Ca. He had the dowload f/w for 4.18.

I asked him if the f/w update states what the new f/w does, he said it did not.

Bummer thing is, he has the program, but not the cable to do the change. Since this place is an authorized dealer, they can send my 7210 to Nokia to get the update. No clue how long that will take, but I have the 6590i as backup for the time being.

I have f/w 3.08, I have noticed some quirky stuff happening. So getting the 4.18 should, should fix them. Also I've read here that w/ 4.18, you can use downloaded tones in caller groups. Now that I truly want!

I'm gonna see if I can leave work early today, to get this done.

    Oh happy day!

Here's what the new f/w should fix:

4.18 also increases the outbound MMS size limit to 45kB, which allows you to send most hi-res pictures taken with the camera headset.

    >Ringtones in the Ringtone Gallery may now assigned to Caller Groups and SMS alerts.

    > yes, there definitely was, a Call Waiting bug in the Settings
menu that did not allow its activation & deactivation; now rectified.

    >also rectified is the bookmark bug which caused the phone to restart when a bookmark was added on certain wap sites.

It may also rid the problems with lagging especially in the java games.

i have version 3.09 and i could send mms whit high res pictures=) no problerms, but ill heard that we will be able to send poly´tones whit picture and thats great

Found the list of changes on another forum...

You may want to check on this, but I understood that there are 2 major service centers for Nokia. Florida & Texas. Why they don't have 1 in good ol CA is beyond me.

Be more than happy to post, when I get my 7210 back. I knew there was a reason I bought the 6590i................................

Damn...i just got mine, but I wouldn't mind upgrading the software version. I haven't had my phone give me any trouble so far but you know, always wanna have the lastest for your phone.[IMG]
My question is, do u have to send the phone to Texas or Florida in order to have your version upgraded or is there another way to do it? By the way i'm in the UK right now.

I'm in Souther California. The service center I brought my 7210 to, they had the software to do the f/w update, but did not have the cable to do the transfer. So, they are sending my phone to FL. I do hope they can do the f/w update there......................I read on anothe post from another forum, some dude sent his for 4.18, got it back w/ 3.09.

If you're in the U.K., I highly doubt that you'll need to send yours to the state to get the f/w. Call Nokia, they will be more than happy to direct you to a service center in the U.K.

The rep I talked to, suggested I send my phone to a local service center for the f/w update. Instead of sending in to FL, which will take some time. But as I mentioned above, it has to be sent to FL.

Now the wait & see if I get f/w 4.18. I wonder if I do get this new update, if I'll be the first in the U.S. or Canada to get it............................

Dude, you really need to get a life!
I'm sure there are plenty of great things to do in California!
This is just an improved f/w being available in Europe for almost a month now.
The only difference might be in language package - not to worry since most of them have English.

Guess if your 7210 is working fine, no problems; then you don't need an upgrade. For me, I had some quirky things happen on my phone. That's why I sent mine in for the f/w update.
