Hi Everyone! I just got the Razr V3m and I haven't had a problem with it so far. I've already uploaded some .wma's onto it from my comp without any problems. However, I was wondering if there's a way to use those songs as ringtones. I read from places that its possible, but I don't know how. It totally sucks that I have to pay to get a ringtone when I already have the file for the song, know what i mean? If anyone can help me with this, that would totally rock. Thnx!!!!!!
Get motorola phone tools and set up manually (don't autodetect drivers) and it will let you get into the multimedia studio. From there you can select a mp3 song, crop it down to the part you want as your ring tone, and put it on your phone. It works amazingly. I made 5 tones last night in like 15 min and sent them over.
so i just buy the MPT 4.0 and thats all?? i've read on that one forum that it goes for 49 50 bucks but i found it on ebay for like 15-20 dollars , its oem so im guessing its the same thing... and all i need is this MPT 4.0 and i can use my ringtones with my wma? sweet, im in the same position as james.. got the songs on but cant get it as a ringtone..
i pretty much just want to have my songs that i put on my phone from my computer to be able to play as ringtones.. i also want that vibrate first than ring option enabled.. other than that i cant figure out too much other stuff i want to create on my phone but i'll check it out
Ok. Windows Media Player version 10, will convert you songs over to the phone for you by sycning. To do the Vib+ring you will have to SEEM it. SEEM pt 01 Viberate THEN Ring part 1 offest = 007b bit = 3 set = 0 (uncheck to disable) SEEM part 02 Viberate THEN Ring part 2 offset = 007b bit = 4 set = 1 (check to enable)
i've got the songs on my phone already because i bought the music kit from verizon.. but i've read that to use them as ringtones.. i will need to get MPT 4.0 , is that the only way to SEEM it?? or can i SEEM it without MPT? thats my question of confusion, thanks for your help you are very helpful and knowledgable
Sorry I did not make myself clearer early. The ringtones for the V3m are .mid files. The song you want will have to be converted to .mid. Some have said that they have changed the file-type, .wma to .mid, and that took care of the problem. I do not see how, but you can try that. There is also a FREE programs on this thread for converting .mp3's to .mid. Sorry I do not remember which pg/post it was on. To get the VIB+Ring to work. You will have too SEEM the phone. The offsets/bits/setting is in the previous post that was sent to you. More questions, just holler out.
midi's sound like crap thats the problem.. i've read people using the actual mp3's or wma's to set as a ringer, thats what im trying to do.. now my other question. to SEEM the phone.. do i need MPT or can i do it using my regular usb cable from my music essentials kit and another program?? thanks again
PLEASE note that you can BRICK your phone. Make sure you read ALL instructions before and get a good understanding of what you are doing. You will need two programs to SEEM. Motorola Software Update can downloaded here. http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip P2K program can be dlownladed here. http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip Installing the above two programs is real easy. SEEM'ing needed information can be found on the following posts #434, #446 on the following thread. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/54510-motorola-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m-15.html Seeming Instructions. 1.) Start MSU 2.) connect phone to mini-usb 3.) connect usb to computer - when the ESN Number of your phone shows up, then you are connected. If MSU starts to update, let it. 4.) Minimize MSU, do NOT exit from MSU, it must be running in the background 5.) Start P2k 6.) Set the following fields: 6a.) Bytes (h) = 0000 6b.) Seem = 2742 6c.) Record = 0001 7.) Click on 'load from phone' button 8.) click on 'save to file' button - it is always a good idea to 'backup' before you make changes. Give name of file if/when prompted. 9.) Use down/up/side arrows to scroll to the OFFSET you want 10.) Click on the Bit's box to turn it 'on' - checked or 'off' - unchecked. 11.) click on 'save to phone' button Repeat steps 9, 10 and 11 to change all the SEEM's you want. 12.) exit P2k 13.) Click on 'end' and then exit MSU 14.) disconnect cable from computer, then phone from mini-usb 15.) Then turn off phone for few seconds. You be done! Enjoy
i'll give that one a try when i get home then. thanks so you dont know about the mp3's / wma playing as ringtones only midis?
I will check. In the meantime, the above sticky, "Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here" could answer your question. Bear in mind that there is a lot of info there.
anyway that we could anwser how to use MPT to get some mp3 music as ringtones on a RAZR V3M????pleaseeeee im so poor and cant afford the 2.99 songs!
Here is what I have come up with on ringtones. Note: Sounds and Graphics stored on the Transflash card can not be used as a Ring Tone or Picture ID. Pictures/Sounds to be used as Ringer/Caller/Picture ID's must reside in the phone's internal memory! Ring tones.... The V710/E815/V3C/V3M supports.. General Midi (polyphonic), iMelody (monophonic), MP3 files and Yamaha SMAF format .MMF files as ringers. Files to be used as ringers must exist in the phone's memory. Note: When making ringers, keep in mind that for Verizon phones, the ringer only plays for about 25 to 30 seconds before the call is sent to voice mail. If you phone is set to Vibrate then Ring, the play time will be even less. So, save phone space, and trim your files down to be 30 seconds or less. For MIDI files as ring tones, It is best to use Standard MIDI File Format 0 and Midi channels from 1 to 16. For iMelody ringers. As far as I know, when it comes to iMelody, there is a "iMelody Standard" that must be followed... I could not find iMelody ringers for download anywhere, so I made my own from Nokia RTLL formatted ringers I found on the internet... I used the Motorola Messaging Suite v1.1. It has a ring tone creator/editor that also can import a Nokia RTLL ring tone from a text file and saves the ringers as an iMelody format file. Its available from the Motorola MOTOCODER website. You must sign up, but download is free. It will also show you if your iMelody is TOO long for your particular phone. and where you need to start chopping it to make it short enough for your phone. You may need to rename the file from .IME to .IMY in order for them to work on your phone. For ring tones from MP3 files... While any MP3 file should work, I have found it is best if the ringer is a Constant Bit Rate (CBR), Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3 (as reported by File Info in WinAMP), 20 to 25 seconds as a maximum Length and no ID3 tag. While I have used MP3's encoded as 32kbits/22kHZ/mono, 48kbits/44kHz/mono, 64kbits/22Khz/Mono, 64kbits/24kHz/Stereo, and even 192kbits/44khz/stereo, I have found for the best balance between file size, quality and compatibility to use 48kbits/44kHz/Mono. Note: Some MP3 files I have that were reported as Mpeg 2.0 Layer 3 and Mpeg 2.5 Layer 3 in WinAMP and will NOT REPEAT on the phone, will "stutter" or "skip" or simply do NOT play. After conversion to Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3 and removal of all ID3 tags, they all work fine. Note: When it comes to renaming from .MP3 to .MID... Go into Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab. Find the box for "hide extensions for known file types" and remove the the check mark prior to trying to rename the file. Failure to do so will result in Mytone.MP3 being renamed as Mytone.mid.mp3 and the phone will receive it as a .QCP file which can NOT be used as a ring tone... After you remove that check, mytone.mp3 will be properly renamed to mytone.mid. Note: Renaming is not the same as "Converting" or "making the MP3 into .MID"
See if this works. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FCIL6I/ref=nosim/002-5618525-4824030?n=172282 It says "with Additional Software to UNLOCK any blocked features Ringtones, Wallpapers, and Video Transfer"
Will the bonus disk allow me to delete ringtones from the phone? Because I'm told that they are blocked on the phone when I try to do that through Bitpim.
Yes. There is a work-around for this. Someone posted 'how' they accomplished this on the following thread. It was somewhere around pages 35-39, something like that. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/54510-motorola-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m.html
I've read that entire thread (started reading it when it was only 7 pages long) and haven't seen anyone post a solution to deleting the ring tones from the phone. Maybe I missed it. If you could find the actual post with the solution I would really appreciate it.
Well, maybe this has been brought up before, BUT instead of worrying about tring to get mp3's as ringtones, I have used the "Record Now" feature to record whatever I want and use those as ringtones. I can assign the "recordings" to contacts or use them as a general ring or reminder! Works great! You have to kind of tweak the recoding issues, (like how far away to hold the phone while recording or how loud to have your speaker volume at etc.)
I have the Motorola Phone Tools.....but I don't see the V3m as an option. They have the V3c and the Vcm but not the V3m. What do I do?
If you let MPT upgrade to 4.21, there should be a V3cm or V3mm option. If you are at version 4.0 of MPT, then you need to choose V3cm. Older versions of MPT will not work with the V3m phones.
I have version 4.03b and I selected the V3cm and it won't let me go to the Multimedia Studio. I click on the icon and nothing happens. I transfered some music clips through Windows Media Player 10 and they are in My Music if you go to GET TUNES AND TONES, but I don't know how to make them ringtones. I can play them, but I can't figure out how to set them as ring tones. Any suggestions and do you have a link where i can find MPT 4.21? Thanks.
MPT 4.21 is just on online upgrade. Just remember to use the 4.21 driver tool. Did you use to 4.0 driver tool for MPT 4.0? Odd that the MM icon showed up. When I first had problems, the icon would not show up. When I got MPT working correctly, then the MM icon showed up. As far as making mp3 into ringtones, in the ringtone thread is instructions on how to convert them.
I had a file that was in the format Rod.qcp as my ringtone today. It was working fine up until the time I used my speakerphone option on my phone. It no longer is an option to use it as a ringtone. What prompted this change? I am going to take the mp3 file I want as a ringtone and try the rename to midi format option tonight. I am hoping this will keep the file as is and not allow me to change it or modify it in such a way that it no longer can be a ringtone.
i just followed the instructions to turn on USB/Bluetooth transfer SEEM. manually set MPT to use V3cm WALA, i now have multimedia icon, i was able to "send to phone" an MP3 and now it shows up in my list of ringers.
yeah mine worked when I got it over as an MP3. I still wonder what prompted the qcp file to be modified so that it could no longer be a ringtone.
