Unfortunatly, I only have "dial-up" at my home. Nothing else is available except stailite. Direct TV admitted that it's not THAT good... and sometimes down right slow. Especially for uploading pictures (I'm in real estate). No DSL, No cable...........

I was wondering about a laptop with wireless service for my home use only.
    Not a router type application.
Most people around here don't seem to know much about the whole thing.

    If I use wireless............

    1. Who is my ISP?
    2. Is it something the wireless company offers?
    3. Do I have to have my own ISP at home?
    4. If so, does that mean I can't use a broadband type service with wireless
because I don't have that service at home?
    5. Could I leave my laptop online all day and night OR will that be using cell
phone minutes? If not, how can they offer wireless computing for say
$59.95 a month and let you use it unlimited?

I do have good cell service at my home.

I'm really hoping that some of you will take the time to help me sort through this situation.

    Thanks,
    Walt

Sorry there's no DSL or cable internet in your area. And satellite is only as fast as dial-up for the upstream (your dish can only receive signals, not send).

If you get good cell service, you should look into getting wireless internet from your cell provider (and others in the area). You probably won't get broadband-type speed, but it will be faster than dial-up. The plus side is that you could use it while travelling.

    go to cingular.com....
click on the white bar where it says shop cingular and select PC cards
enter your zip and you will see the PC cards available for your area... these are data only (no voice at all) devices the card itself is 199.99 with 100 mail in rebate

in this instance cingular will becom you ISP if you want to... or you can use this connection to acces you already existing email acct...

do you have an email address at your real estate company?
