6 Wireless antennas are going up in or around Forest Hills, NY at different locations. This area was fully penetrated before so does anyone know what is going on? One of the antennas is for Verizon. I have not found out who the others were. Is this broadband wireless upgrades? There were no issues with cellphone clarity or dropped calls at all in these locations. Areas range from Austin Street, 60th road, 63rd avenue, 65th road, 67th drive and 69th avenue. The locations arent that far from each other leading me to believe it could be a short range broadband service? The last one has been confirmed to be Verizon and all are happening around the same time so I am assuming they could all be Verizon, but Im not 100% sure.
It could be any carrier. Capacity is always a problem in areas around NYC. It may as well be Verizon as they are upgrading to EVDO 1900, which requires more sites to run like their voice service on 800 MHz.
What type of antennas are going up?? Are they actual 3-sector cell sites? How many panels per sector? VZW uses 4 Panels per sector in these areas, with the "inner 2" slightly smaller or thinner than the "outer 2". CING + T Mobile would be putting 2 panels per sector, & Sprint usually 1 per sector direction. This info should tell you if it's actual "cell sites" you see going up, or just some sort of WiFi or microwave link antenna instead ......
