Why can I go out here in Lexington, KY and buy AT&T wireless service.....but their site says none is available?????

    Thats strange.

I tried going to ATT's site and see what kind of phones and plans they have but it says that there isn't service available for my ZIP code.

Yet I can go to the mall here in Lexington and ATT Wireless has a store there.

    What up with that?

There are some areas that ATT is rolling out GSM service where they never had TDMA service. I'm not sure if that is the case with you, but it would mean that certain check zip boxes on ATT's website would reject you. You also might be in an area that ATT is transitioning from SunCom to ATT Wireless. If that is the case, it might take weeks for the site to be corrected.

The only thing I can think of is that you are in a former TeleCorp PCS market which was under the brand name "SunCom" and is now under the name AT&T Wireless. Former TeleCorp markets still have there own website. To visit it click on the link below.

SunCom (TeleCorp PCS) is now AT&T Wireless. The only SunCom left now is Triton PCS.

That is correct, the old Suncom is ATTWS in name, but AT&T has moved at a snail's pace on merging billing systems and giving us access to the attws.com OCS site. Right now we are forced to use a very lacking myattwireless.com through which I haven't been able to get online access to my account since the buyout in August (despite numerous calls to customer service).
