I've had Verison service for 3 years now, with the same phone, a Star Tac Digital (can't remeber model). I signed up for regional service when I lived in NJ, and since moving to Boston, it's been poor. There are a vfew variables that could be causing the lack of service and I was hoping soemone could help me pinpoint the problem. 1.) Is Verizon good service in Boston, MA? Based on previous posts, sounds fine. 2.) Would the fact that I initiated teh service in NJ and now lived in Boston, MA, have any impact on is sub-par performance? (It's a regional Plan from DC to Maine) 3.) Would it have anything to do with my phone being 3 years old? (I replaced the batery about 1 year ago) I always have it coverting to analog whenever I go indoors (65% of time). When I try to call then it doesn't ring and 30 seconds later makes an annoying noise (Beep, Beep, Beep...) I need to switch gears here but acnnot find any suubstantive info to point me in the right direction - Is Verison a good plan in Ma, should I just get a new phone, Is my NJ phone number causing havoc....? Please advise, Thanks,
Have Verizon update the PRL and software on the phone that might help you out. If not then consider getting a new phone. Verizon should work a lot better then that, especially in a major city.
Verizon has worked great for a friend of mine and myself in Boston. He's on an America's Choice plan with a Motorola V120c and I'm using FreeUp with a Kyocera 2135. Always managed to get decent clarity and signal. My guess is that the phone is the weak link.
Certain neighborhoods in Boston have terrible reception, usually due to NIMBY's. I know there are quite a few holes in West Roxbury and Chestnut Hill. Overall, Verizon has the best Boston coverage in my experience. I agree with trying the PRL update as a first line of action. Either take the phone to a Verizon store, or dial *228.
