I am in Gaffney, SC - just playin wit my phone when i dial *22807, my phone goes to a solid R signal, i checked the SID and it said 5386. I tried to use the Mountain Wireless SID list (http://www.mountainwireless.com/sid.htm) no luck. even a google search, no help i just want to know who owns that SID
Well I Live about 6 miles WSW of downtown Gaffney.... If i had to guess i'd say its owned by Cricket.... But on Cricket's Website, it lists all upstate SC (excluding Rock Hill/York) as a no service area. the signal was very weak, but i live on a little hill, and could see the Gaffney City in the distance through the trees. Maybe it could've been a very distant tower on the "Charlotte Cricket" coverage?? I'm about 20 miles down i-85 from the NC State line (near exit 87)
thanx you guys. kinda weird that i'm at least 20 miles away from a Cricket signal (pcs 1900). Anyway, i found another unknown sid in the Spartanburg area earlier today, it's 5595. now i know Cricket has nothing in SC, any info?

It's Charlotte alright! I just did the *22807 thing and got that sid on my phone! You were probably picking up a tower near Shelby, Cricket goes all the way down US 74 to Shelby and then ends. FYI..Cricket is a terrible carrier IMHO!
Yup, i'm not to far away from Shelby, like 25 miles... But because Cricket uses the (1900 MHz PCS) band, i was just wondering how a signal was possible (since PCS dosen't go as far as 800 MHz).. Also note that i'm about 3 miles from the nearest Sprint PCS tower (just a little north of I-85 x87) and my mother had a Sprint phone, but quality was impossible, and coverage was a joke (even a mile away from 85, dropping calls was still pretty likely)... In fact, the more south you go into Cherokee County, it will only get worse with Sprint, you'd have to go to Pacolet, where theres only one tower.. And beyond that, 30 more miles, Newberry along I-26..
Maybe Cricket has a tower high up on Crowders Mountain where the WBAV and soon to be WAGI tower is...radio and height does wonders
Nice area of NC near Gastonia.... Maybe....Crowders moutnain is like a staight line 30 miles away, There was a similar kind of situation a few weeks ago on my Grundig S350 radio. Over the course of 2 weeks i made a list of distant (DX) FM stations i never heard of....The list is pretty long and i couldn't believe my reception and clarity with these stations. Also, i put the distance from Gaffney to each station: Courtesy of my blog on MySpace (myspace.com/KyleAndMelissa222) ______________________ Radio From Far Far Away...Has Arrived! Is SID # 5595 an Alltel SID for PCS? theres no info i could find. the SID exists in Spartanburg and areas west, but not in Gaffney.
I was in Greenville Monday, Tues & Weds and got sid 116. It changes over from 114 to 116 at the Spartanburg County line.
I know about 114 & 116 I live near the Cherokee-Spartanburg County line. When i was in Spartanburg last week, i hit *22806 on my phone and got a solid R signal on 5595. Just wondering what that was and who owns it. Here a list of these #'s and what i get on my phone From Gaffney: *22800 = Verizon 139 *22801 = Alltel 114 *22802 = ? *22803 = ? *22804 = ? *22805 = Sprint 4376 *22806 = ? *22807 = Cricket 5386
