Have you heard the classic GSM "noise" the "datta-datta-datta" buzzing noise that you will get if someone is either receiving a call, sending a call or if a text message is being received or someone is sending it.

I heard it at work on the phone. I was talking to a customer and thought it was something with them, so I asked them, then I realized it was the GSM "noise". lol, I thought it was funny. They had no idea what I was talking about.

Yup I've heard it on Melissa's T-Mobile phone when near my computer.
Also just before she gets a call or pic message.

When I using the SLM I never heard the noise the phoen was surprisingly quiet. Whereas on the Nokia 6126 that phone is noiser. I always know when a text message or phone call is coming in.

Your poll is missing an option: "What's listening to a program?"

I've heard it on CNN live broadcasts from the UN and things like that. I've heard it in live conferences and even during a game show.

I've heard this noise lots of times myself. For some weird reason, I only hear the buzz in my place when my AT&T phone is near the speaker. I never hear the T-Mobile phone buzz. On occasion, I have heard the buzz while on the phone.

Yeah for sure. But when I hear this the phone is far from the speakers and right next to the unit. So leads me to believe that it was radio interference.

Oh excuse me, I meant to say that it effects my radio unit. Not directly my speakers.

Still applies. Mobile service is radio. It's not KISS FM though :)

    LOL-
All I am trying to point out here in replying to walkguru is. When I have interference it is more to do with my radio tuner than my speakers. Although the gsm buzzing in the end comes out my speakers there that is all I need to say about my experience. I know what RI and all that jazzy stuff is.;)

Hold a regular telephone handset next to your GSM phone and make a call on the GSM phone. If you're using a modern electronic phone's handset you'll likely hear the GSM noise. IF OTOH you're using an older carbon granule transmitter (like on the older Western Electric phones) you probably won't hear anything. The carbon granule transmitters are far more tolerant to RFI than the new electret mics used in many modern 'K' handsets (the squarish handsets) as opposed to the 'G' handsets with the round receiver and transmitter.

ive heard it plenty of times. but IMO people that complain of hearing it in the cars or near their stereos need to upgrade to better speakers. on regular desk phones such as being on a conference call, is the only time i hear it during my day to day.

The GSM RFI more inherently effects the actually reciever than it does the speakers.

Any speaker that's not shielded is liable to pick up the RFI.

I think what he means is that it is the amplifier built-in the speakers that picks up the RFI, not the speakers themselves.
