    Tom,

I believe all of the new ones do. Samsung A700, 740, 760, Sanyo 7400, LG PM-325. Not sure about the Nokia 6016.

Thanks. I am intriqued by the upcoming Sanyo 5600 and LG 535. But the downside is they will be $$$ and probably not be able to handle CDMA on the reworked 800 band to be assigned to Nextel. I wonder when the first phone capable of that will come out. (and when will Sprint CDMA actually be on 800?) Remember, Nextel is keeping about 5Mhz around 900 MHZ, so presumably IDEN will be deployed there, perhaps allowing CDMA on the 800 band more quickly. We can only hope.

At this point I'm not concerned about the whole Nextel frequency thing. I think it will be a long way off before Sprint starts broadcasting on 800 Mhz. They will more likely start out by adding their own 1900 Mhz equipment to some Nextel towers where they need to improve coverage. Motorola recently announced that they won't have dual mode phones for Sprint/Nextel until late 2006. I would have no problem buying a new phone now and then again 2 years from now when they combine the other technologies.

I played around with an A740 yesterday and sure enough I was able to force digital roaming instead of analog. Nice improvement!

If Costco carries it or I can get at least 10% off I might do it. I'm patient.

I just got the Sanyo 7400, and it still has the old ANALOG setting.

Well my GF works at Costco as a manager but has nothing to do with the phones so I really don't have any inside connections. I've never seen any other phones there besides Sprint.

Oh thanks for letting us know. I was under the impression that all of the new phones had the new 'roaming' setting (which is much, much better) but I guess not. I know the A740 does.

The new A740 is awesome. The clarity is much better than the 680 and the
phone switches to digital roam much quicker than other's. Except for not
having a camcorder, this phone is top notch.

I found some of the keys on the A740 hard to press. I prefer the design and keypad layout of the A760 instead but of course no camera or external color display.
