I just picked up the T637 today and, so far, I am very impressed. What I need is a good, reliable, and honest source for the following accessories: Extended-life battery Car charger Carrying case similar to the Body Glove Scuba (the case should have a thin but durable clear vinyl front cover keypad) - I am really concerned about keeping the screen safe and I don't mind having to remove it from the case for photos A good Bluetooth headset - I picked up the Motorola HS-810 today but it might get returned (I'm still evaluating the phone) I don't mind purchasing from an internet-store online or over-the-phone but I need to find a store or site that is, above all, honest. Hopefully, the store will have all of the items on my Wish List. Thank you for looking.
I am unsure if there is an extended life battery available for your phone. It's always good to stay with OEM parts and accessories. As for the case, you may want to check out Krusell cases due to flexibility of their modular clip design--they are made of leather, but have a full vinyl screen protector on the front of the case. I personally use the SE HBH-35 headset and manage to get a solid 3 hours of talktime on it. I switched from the HBH-65 because the HBH-35 offered much better talktime of 5 hours. But, my experience has only yielded me slightly longer than 3 hours per charge. Another reason to get an SE headset is because it shares the same AC adapter. With an SE Car Adapter, you can charge both your headset and your handset. It really puts an end to all the clutter you will have inside your vehicle. Regards,
Thanks for the info. SE finally (after about 7 business days) answered my email about the extended battery - they do not make one. I picked up a Krusell Multidapt case, Spring Clip, and QuickMounter magnet (for the car) from Pride Communications Services (www.pcs-ltd.com). For now, I am using a 2.5mm Handsfree Adapter (earbud) that I found at FactoryDirectCellular.com for $7. This allows me to use my existing Cellitude earbud, which I really like. FDC.com also had the SE CLA-11 car charger for $7 and they assured me that it was a genuine Ericsson part, not an "OEM" knockoff (made by another company to the same - supposedly - specs). Thanks also for the info. on the SE Bluetooth headset(s). I will probably go with SE when the time comes to invest in one.
Good find, Gideon! This is probably splitting hairs but I have always been under the impression that "OEM" referred to non-branded parts that will work with branded (SE, in this case) phones. I realise that OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer but I think that the usage varies, particularly if something is listed on eBay (they used to have rules that defined the use of "OEM" but I don't know now).
Okay, so I received the 2.5 mm Handsfree Adapter & "OEM" car charger from FactoryDirectCellular.com a couple of days ago. The adapter will not work at all and the charger is a non-Sony aftermarket part, which I refuse to use. I am talking with FDC about just returning both of these parts for a full refund (their site says that they will charge a 20% restocking fee). What really bugs me about FDC is that the page for both of these parts does not give a part number at all! http://www.factorydirectcellular.com/home/ericsson/ericssont630.htm#handsfree-adapter The charger is called "Car Charger Adapter - CLA" on their page but I only found out the actual part number (theirs) when I received a confirmation email of my order. FDC calls it a ERT28-CLA and it is a "Cellular Accessories" branded part. I politely told FDC that the description of the charger is deliberately misleading in that it does not specifically state that the charger is a "Cellular Accessories" branded part. So, I am now looking for a non-Bluetooth headset with a boom mic. SE has the Portable Handsfree HPE-14 for $9 but I don't like it because the earpiece is of the "wedge-it-in-yer-ear" variety I see that Global Mobility has the SE CLA-11 Cigarette Lighter Adapter (aka Car Charger) for $13.99 which is a fair price but I really need to find a good headset with a boom mic that wraps around the ear. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. TIA
I called the SE Accessories Dept. to ask about the HBH-35 (because ShopWireless.SonyEricsson.com did not show the -35) and was told that the -35 has been discontinued and replaced by the HBH-65 for $129. The number for SE Accessories is 866-837-7290.
