I had the 1000 anytime minutes a month plan with rollover for 39.99 until a couple of months ago. I don't see it availble anymore. (I shut my cell phone sevice off, but now I'm considering getting a cell again if I could get a good plan.)
Sounds like that would have been a pretty old plan (?). I've got 450 anytime minutes w/ rollover for $39.99/month, and I've had it for at least 18 months now. Unfortunately, once you move off of a plan that has been discontinued, it isn't available to you any longer. (*posted wirelessly from my vaio sitting outside on the patio with a cat on my lap drinking a beer. This is so cool!!!! I've never vaio'd outside before. *)
It was only about 18 months old. It may have been a "sale" plan to get more people to sign up. i was just wondering if they were going to another promotion like this anytime soon?
Hard to tell. They had the 1000/$39.99 for a few months, then 1500/$49.99 for a few months but I haven't seen anything promotional for over a year.
Jay, they did have rollover, they came without M2M (available as a $9.99/mo option) and without N&W (not available as any option).
Ok, I knew they didn't have something, which is why I didn't get one of those plans. I use on average about 1,000 M2M & N&W minutes combined per month. That's why I stayed on the 450 anytime plan with M2M, Rollover, and N&W for the same price as that plan was the better deal for me. -Jay
Yes those plans were there and they just let them expire as they realy did not do good. They just did not know how to market them like T Mobile did. As to the plan details, Like Dmapr said, 1000 anytime, no N&W, no M2M (pay for option) plus roll over. One of my family members still has the 1000 one.
My ex-girlfriend has one, too — and she also has the Fast Forward option as well, free with combined billing. She would add M2M for a few months, build up the rollover pool, then drop the M2M and use up the rollover. It's certainly more of a PITA than a straight up plan that works.
It wasn't automatic, you had to pay extra to get it, but at least you could get it. IIRC, AT&T Wireless ran a similar plan right at the end of their existence.
That rate plan is made as a retention offer when you call in to cancel service. If you say that you want to cancel to go to whatever provider because they have a 1000 minute rate plan for $39.99 they'll set you up on it. It has UMM but no NW minutes.
I had this plan up until today when I dialed down my Cingular service to the lowest plan they would allow me. IIRC, it was initially $59.99 for 1000 nationwide anytime with rollover and no data. Then over the course of the next couple of years the price fell. I know when I re-entered my contract 10 months ago, my phone rep kind of handwaved and told me he'd just keep me on that same plan. I was pretty happy with that.
