Does anyone know if ATT has any new plans that will match the Sprint Everything Plan? I currently have the Sprint Everything Plan and pay $100 per month for a Blackberry!! This includes everything that you can do with the phone including unlimited voice, data, text, and navigation. It is truely everything with no strings attached. The last time that I priced the same options for a Blackberry on ATT, the cost was $160. That is 60 percent more that I am paying to Sprint!!! What the heck; the difference is almost unbelievable. Does ATT currently have a plan to match Sprint? I absolutely love Sprint because of the excellent network coverage and lack of dropped calls, however, the lack of new phones such as Blackberrys with world (GSM+CDMA) capability is really annoying. I am currently using a BB 8830 and it doesn't even have a camera or support Sprint TV because the operating systems is out of date as compared to new Blackberrys. Thanks for your input and suggestions. -jim
To my knowledge, AT&T does not have a plan that matches Sprint's Simply Everything Plan ($99)... no carrier does. And IMO, I don't think any major carrier will match Sprint's Simply Everything Plan... especially NOT AT&T or Verizon... they don't need to! EDIT: Just to add on, in respect to "bang-for-the-buck", Sprint is simply the cheapest when BlackBerries or SERO is involved. However, if non-BlackBerry voice-only, or voice + messaging, or voice + data services are involved (NOT all 3), some plans may be less bang-for-the-buck than other carriers (like T-Mobile).
That seems to be ths issue. ATT and Verizon don't even see Sprint as as threat because Sprint owns such a small amount of market share regarding the number of cellular users. If Sprint has the iPhone and some decent Blackberrys, they would really be wonderful. I have been extremely disappointed that here it is February and Sprint has not announced any earthshattering news regarding cool and new phones for business users. I need to decide if I want to bite the bullet and pay 60 to 70 percent more for ATT to get the phone selection that I want.
The problem is that Sprint doesn't offer many smartphones that are truely "international devices". Since I travel to Taiwan and Europe several times per year and need to be in constant contact with my office via email, I need the international worldphone capability. The only other option that I have is the 18 month old technology Samsung ACE. It is too bad that Sprint is not more "open" about discussing the phone options that will be available to customers in the future. Does Sprint really have any new international phones in their immediate future within the next several quarters, or will we be stuck with the old phones for a very long time. When ATT got the iPhone they made a lot of hoop-la marketing noice for months before the phone's actual release. Sprint needs to take the same approach and inform the customers as to what is coming in the near future rather than keeping us in the dark and happily watching the exponential churn. Currently, I am on the fence regarding biting the bullet and dumping Sprint. Sprint will need to give me some information that there will be new international phone offerings within the next six months for me to stay with them.
I agree that the lack of true CDMA + GSM world phones is disappointing, and that if Sprint wants to capture some more market share from frequent international travelers, it would be smart to introduce more CDMA + GSM phones. I DID hear though, that the BlackBerry Niagra that Sprint is supposed to be getting is RUMORED to be the 8830's replacement, and that it MIGHT have CDMA + GSM/HSPA. Supposedly it's supposed to be arriving Q1, but who knows what the actual ETA is... BGR: Sprint to release the BlackBerry Niagra this quarter?
Does anyone here have the ACE? Is it a good phone? It feels kinda cheap when compared to the Blackberry (construction and material wise).
Since Sprint is having financial trouble, I think they are making sweet deals to lure customers in. Kind of like when AT&T wireless was bought by Cingular, but was still competing for customers before the offical merger. We got a great deal back then (late 2004) and have kept it, buying unlocked phones as needed. Verizon and at&t feel they are superior, so they don't need to cut prices. I'd love to see it happen, though. Or I would like to see Sprint get stronger, if only to put pressure on the bigger players. We're happy with our plan and unlocked GSM phones. I've been in to the at&t stores and the reps say that rollover is great, but when they look at our plan, they admit it's much better than anything they currently offer. Luckily, Cingular/new at&t lets us stay on our plan indefinitely and Sprint would let you do the same...
This is exactly why everyone should have been against those mega mergers that AT&T and Verizon kept making for years. Now all of their customers are stuck paying high prices with greatly reduced competition. I remember telling everyone to be careful what they wished for after each merger or buyout was announced.
ATT has a Unlimited Plan For $99. But this unlimited plan is for voice only. No changes on data and SMS pricing. ATT and Verizon doesn't have any such plans which matches Sprint Everything Plan.
That is correct. I priced all of the data options (including navigator and blackberry) on ATT and the total came out to $160. I am paying Sprint $100 for the same features!! Can there really be that much of a difference? It is almost unbelievable (60 percent more!!!!!)
Yes, there is that much of a difference. With Verizon you'll get a similar price too. T-Mobile will be cheaper, and some features may not be available. Sprint is the cheapest (for all those features).
jimwayda if you decide to move to at&t your best bet would be with the Blackberry Bold, That way you have use of 3G (UMTS/HSPA) in Europe or the Far East. Good luck
Wait for the official phone manual to be leaked/released by a reliable source... or the handset itself to be officially released by Sprint? Otherwise IMO everything else you hear is just rumors... :dunno:
