ok...im tired of hearing all the questions on wether or not you can use a sprint phone on verizon's network. All I simply want to know is if verizon will ever be carrying sanyo phones? I've had sprint in the not to distant past and I cant say anything good about the service. However, they do have the best phones bar none. And I do believe its a shame to put such great phones on such a bad network. So I again ask if sanyo will be making phones for verizon any time soon.
The Sprint network... I must say, I actually love it. At first i'd think 'stupid sprint network' Cause all the calls would bedropped when I was talking to my g/f or several other people. Then I started learning which phones they had... Samsung 8500 Samsung A500 LG ... silver flip phone, green lit screen... (3 people had this phone) Now, I migrated two people to Sanyo phones, the 8500 and an LG. I must say... The difference is WOW. Can't remember a dropped call from them. My thing has now become 'I hate calling sprint users, cause they use LG or Samsung....' I much rather call a land line. Heck, i'l keep working on transferring people to Sanyo...
Okay, Sanyo has an exclusive contract with Sprint, in that they only make phones for Sprint. The word that I got from the Sanyo rep the last week was that, Sanyo is happy making phones only for Sprint, and that they would continue to do so as long as Sprint wanted them to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now you know why I push so hard for my customers to buy sanyo's? At work I would actually spend up to half an hour per customer persuading them not to buy the samsung that they are holding in their hands lol.
well its too bad that sprint ranks last in dallas by consumer reports...and past experience has only confirmed this for me.
If you are going to use Sprint, use a Sanyo, Period. A friend of mine had a Samsung for 2 days, he took it back and got the 8100 and he said it makes a world of difference. Some carriers just work better with certain phones. With Sprint it is Sanyo, with AT&T it is Nokia, with Verizon it is LG and Motorola (although Motorolas quality has dropped drastically lately leaving LG to take the #1 Verizon spot). Sanyo has an exclusivity deal with Sprint so you will not be seeing any Sanyo's on other networks anytime soon unless someone got the MSL and changed over with a compatible phone. Only certain Sprint phones support 800 MHz CDMA though so there are very few compatible phones. If you are going to use Verizon and want a top of the line phone, get the LG6000. It may not have ALL of the features of some of the Sanyos, but it was designed to work on Verizons network and I think it would make you a lot happier in the long run by not causing conflicts or compatibility issues.
a sanyo 8100 on verizon's network, how sweet that would be! and if sanyo is exclusive to sprint only, well money talks.
Actually, it would be kind of pointless since Sprint is Java and Verizon is BREW, but it could technically work, you would just lose a lot of features. All you would need is the phone and the MSL, and if you are crafty, there are tricks for getting the MSL. Still, I would suggest the LG VX6000 for Verizon.
True, if it were designed for Verizons network then it would be cool. But as for activating one that was designed for Sprint......that would be losing a little too much functionality for me.
the point is having the sanyo work for different carriers, just like motorolla, nokia, etc, i never said anything about having a sprint ready phone used by verizon's network. it's obviously not the same.
Right, I agree with you. That would be cool, Sanyo has some of the coolest phones out there. Now if there were some program that would run under Java that would be like a BREW emulator it wouldn't matter if we had to get the MSL and use a phone originally designed for Sprint, we would be all set. I wish they would make phones for other carriers. If ti weren't for the BREW thing, I would do it the other way.
I love my 6000, more than any phone I have owned. it is absolutely fantastic. I am still going to pick up an old t61c to have on hand for when I go to an area that I know I am going to need analog though. I could actually use my 4400 or one of my othewr phones, but I have always wanted to try out the t61c, that phone appeals to me a lot.
i know exactly what you mean, that's why i'm still holding on to my "only used 1 day " audiovox 9500, to be covered in those analog only areas when i go on trips.
looks like there is finally sunlight...the samsung a670. Now if this thing were only to come out withing the next six months....I've allready had the t720 for almost a year and i dunno if I can stand to keep it for more than another six months. I like bits of the vx6000...but I would really rather have a smaller phone...and dual color displays along with being a camera phone...this thing has all that plus the camera has a flash.
