I noticed a new tower a few months ago, turns out it was around 26th of March 2010 according to antennasearch.com. It is still not online, it looks like its ready to go, how long does the process take?
But I have verizon, I know its a Verizon tower. Verizon won't even acknowledge there is a tower there. I'm just wondering if its typical that it takes months and months to get it going.
Only other thing I can think of is that they are having problems getting the final permits approved to make it operational. Check with your local city/town/county government. -Jay
It sometimes takes months and months to get towers up and running. It could be anything, from waiting from backhaul from the local telco, to waiting for the power company to flip the switch.
Yup I'm running into the same issue as well with this tower http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/cell-tower-hunting-club/78111-how-long-does-take-build-tower.html. Tower has been constructed since the middle of June. And finally got someone from At&t to shed some light on that site. 2G will be turned on July 30th, some more 2G on August 26th, and finally 3G on September 25th. Of course those dates are subject to change, but a relief to finally get some word from the horses mouth.
I find it odd that they would provide you specific dates for that and also why it would take them a month apart to turn on different functions.
Exactly I don't get why everything is pretty much being done a month apart. But those were dates the CSR rep was pulling up for this specific site. And from what it seems she was the only one knowledgeable, and able to get to this specific info. Everyone else I spoke to simply didn't know how, or told me it wasn't possible. She also made it clear these dates can change and aren't specific.
