hey guys and gals I just wanted to find out if anyone knows why the Nokia 2128i would not be available in stores. I contacted both my local VZW store and best buy and neither store has any units available. I am considering buying the phone but I want to get a feel for it before I make a purchase. Thanks DK
A long time ago they recalled the post-pay units because of a packaging error...At that time, they said it wouldn't take long for them to come out again, but it's been too long.
The Boston-area stores received them earlier this week. I purchased one last night. Glad to finally be IN.
Thanks! After trying out all of those prepaid services last year, eventually going to T-Mobile for one year (contract expires in a month), and now (finally!) on Verizon, I believe I have now become a more educated and knowledgable consumer when it comes to wireless service. I must thank the good people who post on WirelessAdvisor because it was here that I read all the posts about what people had to say about this carrier or that carrier, all the positives and negatives that were experienced. I also added in my :twocents: as well. I also have to thank Cingular. This all started because it was Cingular that would not add a third phone to my existing account during the summer of 2004, on the same discounted $10.99/month rate plan I had on the two phones on my account at the time. Customer Service said they could do it (same rate but no nights/weekends), the local Cingular corporate location said they could not. The second phone was already off-contract which I cancelled shortly after that and the last remaining phone comes off-contract in less than two weeks. My father is happy with the T-Mobile To Go prepay phone I gave him and my mother who currently has that last Cingular phone, is receiving a brand new TracFone (Nokia 2126i) that will be activated on Verizon. She doesn't use the Cingular phone all that much as it is, making the TracFone more economical. Including taxes, the Cingular bill is $14.00 and change per month. With TracFone, it's one year of service and 150 minutes for $79.99. Ed
The 2128i was pulled because the packaging said it had Get it Now and it didn't. The blister packs used for the prepaid phones had a sticker attached to cover the Get it Now wording but the phones in the OEM packaging for the VZW stores had to have new packaging created and then be repackaged. They are starting to show up on line for various zip codes on the VZW website.
Thanks wgray, I'll be making a phone purchase sometime next week I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again everybody
Even better, sign a new contract, get an EXPENSIVE PHONE, and then buy a prepaid model from BBY, switch the ESN in My Account, then sell the new expensive phone for much more on ebay. This will cover your wireless service bill for a while. Might as well take advantage of promotional value if ya sign a contract!
good call Gonz, I think I am going to pick up 4 LG VX 5200 on my family share plan because of the buy 1 get one free promotion. 2 of the phones are eligible for best pricing with a new 2 year deal and this makes the all the phones free cause I get to for the price of one.
just an update I went with the LG VX 5200's although I was only able to get 2 for free not 4. Because the phones and plans were already discounted so much being that I am on a government plan. The phones should be here later today
We have several of these phones in stock and have sold several already. I hadn't heard anything, we haven't had trouble getting them from our warehouse.
I can report that my phone is treating me very well. I have not had any problems with it do far as well.
If my 2128i has a problem downloading the next PRL, whenever it's released, it's going back to Verizon.
I purchased my 2128i prepaid phone at BestBuy in Palm Desert, CA and activated it on PostPaid but had to call in. Phone worked great. However, when I came back home to Honolulu, HI it would no longer display the Verizon wireless banner on top of the screen. I did not mod the phone in any way. Phone was working fine. I fleabayed the 2128i and got the 6236i which I like much better as it has more customizable features. :O
Could it just be the network acting up I have had this happen on most every phone I have owned with Verizon what does it do when you try this??
