Have been putting up with poor Cellular One coverage for last 3 years. Are there any better cell providers in the 42633 Zip code area??
Have you tried Bluegrass Cellular??? Their network is supposed to be quite strong across their native coverage area: http://www.bluegrasscellular.com/
Where I live (McCreary) is in their native area and they have one, count it<one>, tower in the entire county. They at best cover 25% of the county. Same with southern Pulaski Co., below Burnside, no coverage. Same with western Whitley Co., around Cumberland Falls, no coverage. So no, Bluegrass doesn't have good coverage in their native area. At least not in the eastern part of that area. Having said that they have about as good coverage as their competitors. Cell One mainly. Which sucks as well.
To update my earlier posts about Bluegrass coverage in south-central Kentucky. Bluegrass has recently been on a tower building spree in this area. Along U.S. Hwy 27 north from the Ky/Tn state line through Pulaski Co they have built several towers. Approx. 5 miles north of the state line they have an antenna on the McCreary Co water districts tank in Pine Knot. Then about 10 miles further north on US 27 in the Parkers Lake community they have another. Then about 15 miles north near the Keno Road just south of Burnside in Pulaski Co they have a third. So that's 3 towers placed into service this summer along 27 that I know of. I think there are more in Pulaski Co but I'm not sure where. These towers have improved service tremendously. The tower near Burnside must be totally aimed north because you can't pick it up except when you're north of it, nothing at all to the south. So there's still a hole along US 27 from Sloan's Valley all the way to Parkers Lake, about 12 miles or so along US 27. Also going south from Parkers Lake that tower doesn't reach all the way to their next tower south so you have some dead area just north of Whitley City. All and all though a big, big improvement for Bluegrass in McCreary and Pulaski Counties. This should help Verizon customers as well. I notice Bluegrass is building a big store in Somerset across from the Walmart Plaza.
Sprint and Alltel customers also free roam off of Bluegrass so these improvements should be a big help for a lot people travelling in the area. Thanks for the update.
Bluegrass becoming free roam for Alltel customers is a very recent addition (SID 1280) on PRL 606. It is still not on the National Freedom map.
