Who should i get as a provider for the best Smartphone/internet/PDA type phine??? I just got a Sidekick 3 today and am not that impressed with it... So i wanna change it for 1 oh these phones.... My zip is 95991 and 95901 and which one is the best, but cheap...
Of the providers listed in your profile which one offers the best service/coverage in those two zip codes? Also you can check out the coverage in you area at any of those carrier's websites.
Well the one that gets the best reception is Cingular... Verizon is ok as well, but in this area all verizon customers REALLY sound like robots... No joke... its bad! Its like talking to a computer, plus they drop a lot of calls... I also want a phone with Wi-Fi as well... and Windows Mobile... With WMP...
Is your Cingular phone using the Blue or Orange (Now T-Mobile's) Network? Right now Cingular doesn't offer a device with what you want, but their are a couple of devices that should be out by years end that will. Of course their are unbranded/unlocked devices out there that will be to your liking. Verizon has the VX6700 which has everything you want, but you will be dealing with their network. I should mention that Verizon has VCast/BroadbandAccess in your area. Which means your data speeds will be much faster (400-800 kbps), compared to Cingular's GRPS/EDGE (40-120 kbps). If Cingular gets their act together with UMTS/HSPDA speed will be comparable.
That is true about Verizon having broadband speeds, however i have never tested it... I also want one that i don't have to have a voice plan attached to it, just the internet/data. Cingular does have a phone that looks like it might have what i want, its the "Cingular 8125 Pocket PC". But T-Mobile has one that has the same features as well, its the "T-Mobile MDA or T-Mobile SDA" They both have the same features the only difference is that one is touch screen and ones not... Then theres Verizon who has the "Samsung SCH-i730 or Verizon Wireless XV6700". From what i can tell it looks like the Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA, and the Verizon XV6700 are the same phones, just with different names. Some1 please help me pick one! My current phone runs off of both the blue and orange network, All of the phones on our plan do because we got the service right in the middle of the merger. No matter which phone i get i am still keeping me Voice service with Cingular, They have been the best for me out of all of the Providers in my area. The next best would have to be T-Mobile, They were good to me too till i had really cs and had to talk to 47 different ppl and depts. in a matter of 4 hours. I called it quits after that. Third would have to be Verizon, The bigest problem i had with them was that i had no service at my house or work, and if i did it was analog. I just couldn't put up with that and it was not the phone cause i swapped it out 5 times and changed models/makers.
Had Sprint and hated it and will never go back to it, and even if they were the only provider in my area. I wouldn't have a cell phone then. They cheated me out of over $1000.00. Not to mention they have no service in my house or work, just like Verizon. Sprint/Nextel is not an option... Sorry...
Ok now tell us how you really feel about them. By the way Yuba City was a Ubiquitel affiliate market until this year when Sprint bought them out.
I have never heard of that company. The sprint name has been around here for at least 6-8 years... Were thay maybe selling under the sprint name? Either way i hate sprint! But i think that i am going to go with the T-Mobile MDA or the Cingular 8125 Pocket PC... So which one do u guys think i should go with???
Yes Ubiquitel was selling under the Sprint brand name in Yuba City, Stockton, and Bakersfield and most of the Central Valley. Typically when you have affiliates they don't have as good of coverage due to lack of funding.
If i am reading the Sprint PCS coverage maps correct, it looks as though they dont have Sprint native coverage here, just nextel native. Like i said i could have missread it... But thats what it looks like to me... Anywho, i wand either the T-Mobile MDA or the Cingular 8125 Pocket PC.... Again, which one do u guys think??? Any help is appreciated....
There is Sprint native coverage. I think the maps are messed up. What happens when you zoom in? I'm seeing the coverage after I zoom in at least one level.
You are correct, when you look at this map (link 1) it showes that sprint has only roaming coverage here... http://coverage.sprintpcs.com/IMPAC...de=None&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group But if you zoom in and look at this map (attached) it shows there is native coverage... Now i know that sprint Sells service in our little thing that we call a Mall... So i would assume that they have naitve coverage here...:loony: Also i attached where the map shows that there is only roaming coverage north of Sacramento...???:loony: :loony:
OMG!!! U think Sprint is the best!!! It might be in your area, but in mine, it is one of the worst... Put it this way, i think Metro PCS is better than Sprint... And for those of u who have had metro before, u know its gotta be bad. And i do believe that they did cheat me out of $1000.00... And this is why; One month i recieved my bill from them and it was well over $1000.00... i was shocked!!! I have never had a bill that high and wanted to find out why, so i called then up and asked y it was so high. They told me it was because i had went over my minutes by alot. I asked them HOW!!! We had never went over out mins ever b4 (Family plan w/5 phones) So the rep and i started to go over the bill and we noticed that all of out mobile2mobile and night&weekend mins had been taken from out anytime mins... I told her that this was a mistake and she agreed, she put me on hold to go and get her supervisor. When they both came back on the line they told me that i no longer had m2m and n&w mins. That i had called the month b4 nd had them removed off of my acct!!! I told them that i never did anything like that, why would i do that if they were free and part of the plan! They said they didn't know why but i asked for it to be done so they did it. I told them to put them back on and remove the overages due to their error... They said no th the overages and if i wanted the m2m and n&w back i had to sign a new 2yr plan... I told them no and canceled service that day... Now can some1 tell me y some1 would ask for the FREE N&W and M2M mis to be removed off of the acct??? IDK y... Its crazy!!! My final bill was almost $2000.00... I am still in cort with them... Stupid !!!
That does sound messed up. However it's not very typical for something like that to happen. I've been with Sprint since 1997 and nothing like that has ever happened. Ok now tell me one thing. When this goof up on your plan occurred didn't their coverage suddenly become a lot worse? Just kidding with you.
LOL!!! No the service was bad right from the start. But they were cheap and at that time we really didn't travel much so it worked, but that threw me over the edge and made me go with another provider.... So i just orderd the T-mobile MDA... It was only $19.99!!! I couldn't pass it up!!! Lets hope it works out great!!! I will let every1 know how i like it!!! And if any1 has any pointers or tricks they know to do with it plz let me know... I'M new to the PDA/Smartphone world... Thanks for all the help!!!
