Congratulations, ShoresGuy. After you graduate, are you then going to move to Köln, Germany, like your signature says?
it's like smoking, an expensive hobby. between my computer and my car, i always seem to be broke... man when i really start working im gonna be screwed.
Yes indeed. That's the largest city in Germany in terms of media presence so it's a good place to start off at plus the fact that 90% of my extended family resides there.
That's nice. My family and I have been to Köln, Germany about 6 years ago. The church there that we saw (forgot the name of it) was magnificent.
Lol that's the Cologne Cathedral aka Kölner Dom . Yes it is a very beautiful city, my mom and all of her dad's family are from there and my dad moved there when he was 5. So that's my second home besides the SF Bay Area in the US .
I would have never been able to remember the name in a million years.....lol .....even though it was obvious!! Thanks ShoresGuy for reminding me of the name of the cathedral. That's nice. At least you will know people over there (relatives, etc.)
MS XP Intel P4 @ 3.4G w/800mhz FSB 1GB ram 120GB HD @ 7200rpm 2nd 40GB HD @ 7200rpm Raedon 9800 Video (just got it) CDRW/DVDR Drive 2nd CD/DVD drive 1 GB JAZZ Drive (external) 250mb ZIP many USB slots. i think there are now 8. wireless keyboard and printer. i made my own sound system out of a pioneer home theatre system and a Marshall Bass Amp. i have a DELL 8300 fully loaded too, but its still in the box. i bought it then built this one to similar specs of the DELL. Going to give it to my parents for Mothers/Fathers Days gift. or maybe i can make some sort of supercomputer by coming the two. bad idea. it does everything. homebuilt too for the most part. some of the work i had done professionally. mainly because i am lazy, but partly because i didnt know enough about some of the parts. since i am living at my parents place right now, their home surveylliance system is recording right onto the second hard drive (thats why its there). otherwise i wouldnt need a second HD. i dont even need the 120GB on the first one. and there is a ton of stuff on my computer (ALL Adobe Programs, ALL Corel Programs, and Intershop4 and several versions of Dreamweaver. cant forget RollerCoaster Tycoon and the PC version of HALO!!) this computer also controls my new salt water aquarium. i monitors PH and salt levels in the aquarium. using an automatic salt feeder and PH balancing system i got from a retile specialty shop, along with the included computer software, it constantly monitors all levels of the aquarium. it even regulates temperature with a heating element and cool-air fan that pumps cool air into the filter system to cool the water. the whole setup is freekin awesome. i just finished it a few weeks ago. theres no fish in it yet because i wanted to be sure the PH and other levels were monitored properly first. then i have to readjust once fish are added. i want to put a shark in it!! but they get too big. i am just going to have starfish, some urchins and maybe some sort of puffer fish if they dont get too big and eat everything else.
i really dont need all that, but i got bored and decided to try and build a new computer. i got a bit out of control and got all kinds of stuff i dont need. well, i do need the Adobe and Corel Programs and Intershop, but I certainly dont need such a big HD. I could run a small chain of banks on this thing. but having the filter system for the aquarium hooked up is really cool. usually salt water tanks are a real pain in the bum to deal with, but this setup really makes it easy. the software to run all that was really hard to find. my reptile dealer actually got ahold of the Camden Aquarium in NJ to find out if such a thing exists. they got directed to a software company right here in my area who makes some of the software they use for monitoring those huge aquariums in NJ. it turns out they have a consumer version for $250. of course i had to get all the right components too but it was only about another $300 for all that junk. i love electronics. i have more electronics in my house than some small electronics stores. i want to try and make one of the new High definition Tvs my computer monitor. then i can sit all the way across the room and use my computer from the couch instead of an uncomfortable computer chair. (my computer chair sux)
Mine too. $45.00 piece of junk from IKEA. Would love one of those executive jobbies with the fishnet fabric and split back support cushion but $1500.00 is not I want to pay.
i love those huge leather chairs. but it would be a waste for me. i am rarely ever home to make use of it. maybe an hour a day at most. i am usually using my laptop since i am never at the house. but soon i need a new laptop too. mine is beat.
