Why does Nokia keep coming up with ugly, hard to use alternative key configurations for their wireless phones? People may think they look cool for a little while but eventually the lack of functionality is sure to set in. Why, why, why do they keep doing this? Example, the new Nokia 7610, pictured below.

That's a funky design but not quite my type.

hmm the picture isnt loading for me ... but yeah i agree it seems kind of stupid to keep moving keys around, i know i would never use one because it would be impossible to write text messages or dial numbers without looking

A few of their recent phones have had strage key configurations. WTF?

You know...I am wondering when some company is going to make an Ergonomic dialer for a Cell phone. You know, some phone that is realy comfortable and easy to hold and dial.

I think Nokia should come out with a rotary dial cell phone since they seem to think the devolution is the way to go as far as keypad design.

Lol you know rancid that this reminds me of the April Fool's Joke PhoneScoop.com pulled last year. They photoshopped a pic of the Nokia 3650 and renamed it the 3605 "The Rotary Dial version of the 3650" [IMG].

I wonder what we will see this year in terms of April Fool's press releases.

The 7610 isn't that bad, but I will agree that some of the layouts are bizare. It just nice to see Nokia release some cool CDMA phones like the 6255i.

Nokia probably wants to shore up their phone selection a bit. Samsung is a close competitor and they are gaining some ground here in Europe which has traditionally been a Nokia stronghold.
