I am paying $4.05 per gallon, which is absurd. I wish there was another way we could stop the high gas price.

I just paid $3.65 at I-85 exit 78 in Spartanburg, but as I was leaving they were raising it to $3.75. Then I drove into Gaffney where I saw $3.82.

Average gas price tops $4 a gallon for the first time- AAA - Jun. 8, 2008 Gas price record reaches $4 a gallon AAA's daily survey tops the milestone for the first time after a 1.7-cent rise Sunday. By Mark M. Meinero and Ben Rooney, CNNMoney.com staff writers Last Updated: June 8, 2008: 9:33 AM EDT NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Gasoline rose to a milestone mark Sunday as the national average compiled by motorist group AAA reached $4 a gallon for the first time. The national average for regular unleaded rose 1.7 cents to $4.005, according the daily measure on the group's Web site. That surpassed the previous record of $3.989 set Thursday. The milestone was expected after a surge in crude oil prices added more than $16 to a barrel of oil over the last 2 trading days. Crude settled at a record $138.54 a barrel Friday, up by $10.75, after setting an all-time intraday high of $139.12. The $10.75 gain was the biggest one-day advance in dollar value ever, nearly doubling the previous mark of $5.49 set Thursday. Weakness in the dollar, geopolitical concerns and an analyst's prediction of $150-a-barrel oil by July 4 helped spur Friday's advance. In a statement Friday, AAA urged gasoline station owners not to overreact to the single-day oil spike. "Consumers should not be overcharged for gasoline simply because the oil markets reacted so strongly to today's news," AAA said. More... SW
This could POP so why sell now? The loss in value could be more than the savings even at $5.00. The TL is great, as is the RL; the MPG is the issue. This could be like the housing market if we all flood the market with cars that get lower MPG. American Solutions - Petitions
We try to stay away from politics on this board, although commenting on the news about gas prices is inevitably political. So without trying to "inflame" the issue, I would just mention that: 1) Analysis I have heard recently indicates that more fuel-efficient cars in America would only have a limited effect on gas prices. Current high oil prices are thought to be the result of extraction and refining running near capacity in all oil-producing countries except Saudi Arabia (constrained supply), amid continued high demand from the developing world (mainly China and India). This not to say that we should not buy fuel efficient cars and each do our part to combat global warming, just that it will probably not affect gas prices much. 2) Gas prices are the result of worldwide forces and probably behave nothing like housing prices. 3) While "speculation" is blamed for up to 25% of the rise in crude oil prices recently, commodity prices are by nature volatile. It's a market, and another word for "speculation" is "investing". 4) The link to the American Solutions site you have posted repeatedly on this forum advocates a series of far-right political views, including: "It is time to make searching and drilling for oil in the Atlantic, Pacific, eastern parts of the Gulf of Mexico, northern Alaska and the Rocky mountains legal." In my view, this is over the line of what's considered political, but the Mods will make their own judgment. SW
Far right? Of course that is subjective. Is that why fmr. Rep. Gepphart and others on the so called left support the concept? Do you believe that drilling here is far right? Seems reasonable, centrist, patriotic and logical in fact neutral politically. In my older posts you will see that you and I agree quite a bit. As to the mention of WE It appears we have both been here about the same amount of time, So am I part of the WE or is it just you that is part of the WE? If you believe that it is over the line, ( its not) report it, to the WE! I'll respect that. All the best.
Wirelessly posted (Treo 750: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0) Jerro, I have to admit that this discussion is more entertaining than the gas prices, but let's keep this thread to posting the gas prices & keep the politics out of it. Okay? PS: I paid $4.19 for Premium on Friday.
I could have simply repeated board policy which states "No discussions about politics or religion in ANY forum." Since interpreting policy is the job of the Mods, not mine, I posted from my own perspective, which I believe is shared by most other members. That's what I meant by "we". I did not mean to imply that my board status is more or less than yours, or that my opinions are more or less worthy. Nobody on this board cares whether you and I agree, and I won't be drawn into a discussion on drilling. I was simply pointing out that the site you linked to, of a group chaired by Newt Gingrich, is not at all politically neutral. It only takes a scan of their page listing the "Top 10 Reasons YOU Should Support" their "tri-partisan” platform to demonstrate this. Putting the link on this board advocates those views. SW
It was $3.93 (might be higher than that now) for regular. I wish there was more action over the prices, and less reaction and less finger-pointing.
I paid $3.86 here in TX but I am feeling the heat of $4.00 around the corner. I drive around 600 to 700 miles a week as a cell rep, I think its time for to ask for a raise to compensate for the raising gas prices. I believe it won't be long before cell service prices will raise due to gas prices.

$4.03/gallon for 87 octane at Mobil. I have only seen two gas stations with regular still under $4. Everywhere else gas is at least $4/gallon or higher.

We're up to $3.74. I just paid that yestrday at BP at I-85 exit 90 in Gaffney. Diesel is up to $4.57.
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11328/528; U; en)) today i paid 3.66 at a murphy in mwc. there was a sticker that read 10 percent etanall.

4.06 (actually 4.059) in Cambridge, MA for 87 octane with 10% ethanol at Mobil. There are cheaper places here, but only by a few cents and this one is convenient when I'm on my way to work. SW
