    Now: Kommissar Rex - Closing Theme "A good friend" (German/Austrian co-production between SAT1 (Germany) and ORF (Austrian State Television) which aired for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. Reruns from the various seasons are currently being shown on SAT1. The series involved a cop (the role was changed several times: Tobias Moretti played Richie Moser from 1994-1998, Gedeon Burkhardt played his successor Alex Brandtner from 1998-2001 and he was then replaced with Elke Winkens (Niki Herzog) and Alexander Pschill (Marc Hoffmann) for the 2002-2004 season. The series involved an American angle as the two German shepherds (Reginald von Ravenhorst - 1994-1997 and Rhett Butler - 1997-2004) used to portray Rex were trained by an L.A.-based father/daughter team called Animal Action (Karl Lewis Miller and his daughter Teresa Ann Miller). Rex plays the central role since he always end up tackling the bad guy(s) when his human colleagues run out of breath.

    Kommissar Rex is the most successful international German/Austrian television production being surpassed only by Baywatch as the show reaching the largest European audience.
