I am so sick of Cingular, that I am planning on switching to either T-mobile (yes, I know, many people tell me it won't be much different) or Verizon. What would be my best bet for good coverage on the freeways to/from Westwood to Pasadena (10, 5, 2, 210, 134, 101, 405)
I visit Glendale and Pasadena fairly often and I live in Orange County. I've had no problems w/ reception on the full length of the 605, the 210 to the 134 (the 134 is also covered). I never take the 2, so I'm no help there. The 5 is well covered all the way to from the 134 to the 22. About a week ago, I drove to Pasadena (took the 22 to the 405 to the 605 to the 210) and was on the phone the whole time (hands-free kit of course)
Lady, T-Mobile is new in town, and initially they are using Cingular's cell sites. So, your experience with T-Mobile and Cingular could be exactly the same. If you stay that close to the Freeways, any carrier should serve you well. But of those two, Verizon is vastly superior. You should also consider AT&T and Sprint PCS. Ah, an area in which I am quite the expert, since I used to live in Santa Monica and worked in Montrose Here's the dish on T-Mobile. 10 - Full coverage from Santa Monica to downtown, except for a rather narsty spot near Crenshaw Blvd. 5 - Full coverage from Sylmar to Orange County. 2 - Full coverage from Echo Park to Montrose. There used to be a narsty spot north of Mountain Ave., but it's gone now. 210 - Full coverage from Sylmar to San Dimas, including the La Tuna Canyon pass where Verizon dies. 134 - Full coverage; a bit weak right in Griffith Park near Forest Lawn Dr. but rarely drops. 101 - Full coverage the whole way. 405 - Full coverage the whole way; can be overloaded ("system busy") near UCLA. Verizon, of course, have wonderful coverage, except between Sunland and La Tuna Canyon on the 210.
