ok so i was talking to my brother today in louisville ky,sunday
he has been with att for 10 yrs, his 6 son's and there family
with att 5 yrs, all was on there own family plan's, all had
text messaging, all had media net, total lines of service
    18,i'll let you do the math,(i'm sleepy)anyway,
he called and said he and his family had had it with all
the problems they where having (like all the rest of
the country)non of them on any contract's, said they
all meet at a local wireless store (i wont say which one)
they all walked in together and ordered all new service's
on all 18 lines, the other company gave them, 18
new phone's and 2 accessories to go along with then
    plus,no activation fee's, plus 100.00 dollor's to each
head of that house hold.after my brother told them they all
where leaving att, then they all packed up in there car's
drove to the att store, they all walked in together
and told att to close all there accts. he said "you should have seen
the rep's face" anyway i just thought this was to good of
a story not to pass along. and wondering if this will be the
future of the NEW att.anyway i get thinking, hey my landline
is att, so i ordered voip today and will cancell my att landline
    before my next billing cycle.

If I were a miserable as you are with at&t I would definitely leave. All of us have troubles at times with our providers. You seem to have MORE than most. I always try to see if it might be me when I am having more issues than most others.

Congratulations? They wasted gas driving 18 people to the att store to cancel the service when they could have just as easily done it over the phone. And.. why didn't the port the #'s to the new provider, since they were all out of contract?

I have four on my family plan in South Carolina and my sister has three on her plan in Florida and both of us are happy. She just renewed her contract and upgraded her telephones last week. One of her daughters contract is running out with Sprint next month and she is moving her service over to at&t. To say that I have never been cutoff I would be lieing. I have had other providers and have been cutoff at times also. Some people always have more problems than others.

    Seems so,

I signed up with AT&T about 13 months ago, all of my family has Verizon because for the longest they were the only company here besides ramcell (not an option.) Over the last 13 months my brother + girlfriend and my father + his wife have all changed to AT&T as the reliability in this area is much greater (When Cingular started building out here they built out hardcore instead of just putting down a tower or two to compete with Verizon) none regret their decisions. This is definetly on a case by case basis.

well congradulation's to you as well, you are 100% right,it would have been easier to cancel over the phone, and that is probably the way you
would have done it, but, sometimes statements are better made in public,
in this case i thought it was a great way,as far as why they didn't want to
    port there # i don't know, i didn't as,they didn't say, and i don't think
that you are high enough on the att chain of command to have that need to know basis.look on the bright side, maybe by what my family in louisville
did may save you from having to pick up the phone and talk to another
    :censored:customer as you call us.

I'm not sure I follow this statement? Forgive me, I'm from Cali. ;)

Curious? Who is the other main provider in Kentucky? Alltel? Bluegrass?

day before yesterday, none of them have had any dropped calls,
or calls going to voice mail,or no signal, works like a cell phone company is suppose to.:D

That is great. Sprint is known to give customers a lot of "freebies" so I am not surprised your family got a good deal with them. I'm also happy to hear things are working out great with Sprint so far!
