    wap browser "delay"

I'm new to wirless internet on phones, just got a 4900 with vision. My question is that while browsing wap sites, I seem to notice about a half second delay between when I press one of the navigational buttons and when the "focus" in the web browser actually moves. It seems like after the info is downloaded to the phone there shouldn't be this delay, but I may be missing something.

Is this usual, or is there something wrong with my phone?

This is usual, don't worry about it. Remember: even though you're browsing somethign as simple as wap sites which usually wind up just being text, the chip inside the phone isn't exactly a pentium 4. [IMG]

    >>I seem to notice about a half second delay<<
    >>there shouldn't be this delay<<

What an interesting world we live in when a half second delay is
intolerable. If you want to put that into perspective, just show a
100-year-old friend the internet, as I have done, and watch that person's
face light up in amazement at how fast complex images can download today. [IMG]

Maybe you could chill a quarter second and thank everyone who invented
this technology while you are waiting a tolerable quarter second more

You are so right, I stand corrected.

I guess I was just confused why navigating in a web page that had already been downloaded to memroy would be slower than navigating a menu stored in memory in the phone. But, as you said, it's really not that big a deal.

The original (the7trumpets) posters opening sentence was, "I'm new to wireless internet on phones;" now personally, I thought the question to be a valid one; considering that some of the other vision phones do not have this lag time.
BL....Maybe if you had known this, your reply to Trumpet would have been very different. [IMG]
