WA vs. HoFo

And bobo mods at both places? Wow he is the top poster here if im not mistaken and still has time to post there? Sheesh what a busy person lol.

Only if you want to have a custom avatar, I think... I don't know what other "privileges" paying gets....

 

there's always a war going on in some of the forums there it seems,
there are some cool members there though.....

 

I like both sites, but HoFo does have more detailed info, they both serve their purpose I guess.

Yep bobolito has roaming agreements with both forums. And he doesn't charge for roaming either.

 

I sometimes read things over there and I can say there are tons more wars and false info over there than here. :inlove:

I decided to dedicate my time to WA because the community is smaller and easier to keep up with!

The thing I do like about hofo is the carrier specfic forums... keeps a lot of the inter-carrier flaming to a minimum but it's not half the fun!

 

WA- smaller community, better bunch of people.

Hofo- much larger with a few unsavory characters here and there.

I hardly go to Hofo anymore. Last time I was there, one guy sweared the V710 would be released in June. Then everyone got together and tore him a new A-hole (verbally).

 

WA has been around much longer (1998), but HF found the better forum software sooner...

 

It's the difference between going to a party with 20 of your closest friends or going to a party with 200 people.


Each has it's advantages, it's personal preference.

That is the best way to put it. I look at both forums, I prefer WA just because it is smaller and more personal. The only reason I go to HOFO is because there is a VZW specific forum, and also a car forum (in case you couldn't tell, I'm a car nut).

 

I like to drop in every once in a while for pre-release pictures of stuff... nothing more .

 

I actually kind of like HoFo a little, especially when I have a question posted here that is going nowhere (getting no replies). That is the one advantage of a "200-person party."

What I DO NOT like about HoFo are the poseurs who are full of attitude & bluster. You will see some completely insane answers there. It also seems that a lot of posters just ask a common question without even bothering to read the existing threads first, but that is common to virtually every forum board, no matter what the subject is.

But WA is where I call "home" for the vast majority of my cell phone questions. Matter of fact, I just recommended WA to an AT&T CSR in Oklahoma City an hour ago.

Edit: Also, the Sony Ericsson forum here pales in comparison to HoFo's. Sorry, it had to be said.

 

it seems as though over there they never head of the search button- stuff gets repeated a lot
here it is smaller, but i do like how they have the different carriers w/ their own forums, but WA is perfect they way it is, even with the old style forums.

Yes Mike(ILUVSOCAL) is over there, I know for sure you can find him In the Verizon Forums, just talked to him lately. Atleast at HOFO he wont get banned. ALso from what i understand Hes over here still too, But iam not divulgeing any more info.

Here's my take on the topic at hand. I prefer the smaller community at WA over Howards but both have their good points. The carrier forums at Howards is an advantage for them.

The Sprint forum over at Howards has better info nowdays than sprintusers.com. At SU.com they seem to want to discuss the same repetitive things over and over (mainly which new phone everyone has and thinks is the best). It's got to be boring. At Howards there's more discussion about other more advanced things which I like.

 

I agree, SU has been going down hill lately.


HoFo is great for tips & tricks. The carrier specific forums are nice too, but some are full of cheerleader & flamers. But I always like WA much more. It is much easier to talk freely about anything wireless, with out getting flamed.
