Over the next few days, I will be upgrading parts of the forums. That means there will be at least some downtime. It will be minimal if everything goes right.
OK, I did the upgrade. I know about a bunch of things that need to be fixed. I'm closing this thread until I fix what I already know about. Then you can help me find what else needs fixing.
The only issue I noticed was not all of my "contacts" avatars show up. The first thing I noticed was my user name being highlighted on the "Welcome" line. After clicking it, I noticed the enhanced member info display, as well as the tabs providing different information. I like it, Joe! Joe, et me know if you need me to PM a screen print of the problem with the Contacts display.
Me likes it The only issue I noticed is that I I see red Xs where there should be icons, in the profile page. Thanks Much FIXED
Ok, I got one. In the gallery, clicking Top Posters gives a blank page. FIXED and moved under the Quick Links menu.
Joe, it seems to be fixed. For those contacts that don't have an avatar, a "?" box shows up now. Yesterday it was a box with a red "X". It was similar to what showed up in the problem Charlyee screen printed. I'm guessing I caught it before that part of the upgrade was complete. Everything's fine now.
I don't like the new time stamps (X hours, weeks, or days ago). It isn't detailed enough. Without the exact time, in the individual threads, it is hard for me to pick up from where I left off with previous forum visits. I do see the icon "double-click to mark the forum read". I assume if I do that, then the next time I log-in, the new threads created since the marking will be easily identifyable?
That feature has been available for years. This is what it does when you do a forum search. (I like to do Active topics - Last day) -Jay
Thanks. I never needed to use the "mark forum read" icon before, and it wasn't very helpful to me, anyway.
You don't have to click that. If you are inactive on the site for 1 hour it marks the forums read automagically at the last time you did something on the site. You only have to mark the forums read when you are on the site all day long. If you check it, then don't come back for lt least an hour, it remembers where you were. -Jay
Wirelessly posted (Treo 750: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) I am afraid I don't see the purpose or advantage of knowing who visited my profile page. Could someone please educate me on what I am not understanding? Thanks Much. PS: Thanks Joe for fixing the "red x".
More or Less it is just a fun feature I don't think anything will be gained from it. But it is fun to see who is checking you out.
Joe also I wanted to add I love the Thanks feature I was going to suggest this sooner or later since there are plaaces that have it. It can save from clutter in a post.
Wirelessly posted (Treo 750: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) Well anyone who gets a PM from me will see me "checking them out" since I always go to the profile page & click on send member PM.
I can hear a new contest coming to life here! How many people have "checked you out" on your profile? The person who has been checked out the most wins.............? :lmao:
Oh and about the upgrade....liking the new things! What about this "thank" feature? I see some people...under the avatar and info...says thanked 0 times, etc. How do you thank or be thanked? Does the board scan the post for the word thanks in a reply and count that? :headscrat If that is the case, and this helps anyone, Thanks!
Joe, Is the report a bad post option gone where individual forum members could report spamming or other inappropriate content? I don't see this option anymore (since I needed to use it but instead forwarded the issue to the mods). Thanks in advance.
I found where the option is (and used it twice). For some reason I thought it was towards the bottom right corner of the post. :O Now I know where it is so I won't forget next time.
On the other hand, it can send out a message to those fanboys and trollers out there... "im watching you" :coolshade:nono: So in our case as Moderators, it is our job to check people out to make sure they are behaving.
