Let's just say I have it from very reliable sources that the holding pattern for evdo in the Carolina's is for Rev. A.

And as for the number of towers calculations you have made, you have neglected to account for two things, the difference between the propagation distances and tower spacing between 1900 and 800, as well as the possiblility of additional carrier channels on each tower. Just taking a look at a comparison between native coverage maps of Verizon, Cingular and Sprint... Sprint still appears to be primary highway coverage in so many areas.

As for the additional towers Cingular adds, I'm not sure how they locate their towers, but in my area they have zero coverage with in the town, or my neighborhood, yet instead of building a tower to fill that coverage hole, they added a new location on the otherside of town, on a lightly traveled backroad.

But since this thread was originally about heavy data users, I'm in a 1x only area, and average about 100 MB per month on my XV6700, I'm sure that will go up once ANY carrier rolls out EVDO in my area. But like it or not I most users like me will pay to have the voice coverage that Verizon offers. EVDO is nice however for email even QNC will suffice.

Exactly my point in a previous post. Why expand outside Greensboro when there are still holes in the city? More poeple live in my neigborhood (Cingular's dead area) alone than some of the areas these new Cingular towers are going up in.

Yes, I knew that--I have no need for extra ring tones and videos on my PPC phone device.

I guess I could get another Cingular phone, listen to music and watch videos on it while I use my VZW phone to actually make phone calls, browse the Web and check email. :D

First, knock it off with the insulting my (and others) intelligence.

Second, there are plenty of VZW users who know this.

Third, there are plenty of VZW users who know this and don't care in the slightest.

Then Why Do they Still Continue w/ this TV ADS?
In one of VZW TV Ads It Says:
Now you Can Download Full MP3 Songs
to Your Phone (for a Fee).
    VZW should Stop This.
    This is Truly an
    Insult to Intelligence.

Bluetooth can Do All of this.
    (for free)

When i see VZW users using
Bluetooth wireless Ear set i feel sorry
    they are being short Change.

You are twisting into an unrelated direction. The topic of discussion is capacity, not coverage. 800mhz towers simply do not have much capacity for EVDO and it impacts how much (or little) capacity Verizon has compared to Sprint. And it relates to the topic at hand at why Verizon is warning heavy data users and Sprint is not.

They say that in the commercial because THEY WANT TO SELL MUSIC TO MAKE MONEY. If I or anyone else wanted to use bluetooth to get free MP3s then WE'D SWITCH CARRIERS. Your continued insult of anyone who has the audacity to use a competitor of the diety you worship (Cingular) is ridiculous.

They Don't Care Because they CAN'T DO IT.
    A BLUETOOTH is your Connection
from your PC to Cell Phone
    and Between Cell Phones Themselves
(regardless of Brand Motorola, LG whatever)
    Without the CABLE.

An MP3 Song Can be Downloaded from PC to
    Cell Phone#1
    ,
    then from Cell Phone#1
    to Cell Phone#2,
    then to other
    Bluetooth Enabled Phones.

The Download is Now from Cell Phone
to Cell Phone. But VZW Users Can't Do this.

I know you Are Still Using that OLD ANALOG RING.

    Jones, stop belittling my intelligence.

I am fully aware of what bluetooth can do. I chose Verizon for other reasons. I don't care about transfering mp3s because I have no desire to do so. If I gained that desire I'd switch.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE TECHINCAL SPECS ON HOW IT WORKS JONES. I AM MORE THAN AWARE

And don't presume to know anything about what's on my phone other than what I tell you about it.
