Verizon does everything twice as slow as everyone else. The RAZR was approved for sale last week and is still not available. Alltel approved the RAZR for sale this week and will have it available starting Monday.
It's not LG's UI, it's VZW's UI, which is standard on almost all VZW phones from all manufacturers. Of the available EVDO phones, only the E815 escapes, for reasons unknown.
Haha, that is true. If it's a good phone without too many bugs, I'll upgrade my secondary lines to it. It'll be pricy though. I heard something in the area of $199 to 299 with 2 year contract.
I should've known they'd come out with this right when Radioshack is dumping VZW for Cingular. Since I work @ Radioshack i'm figuring that VZW is going to do a mass deletion of those of us on the Radioshack/VZW employee plan. We've as of yet to hear of any such plans from Cingular. I borrowed a friends Razr that he has w/Cingular & from what little I got to try it seemed to work well in this rural area that i'm in...as good if not better at times than my V710 (which is another story, thanks to the class action suit!). I wished I could've had it for another day to test a couple of more stretches of road, tho...that would help more with my decision. Since VZW offers a 18% discount to state employees (my main gig) & Cingular only 10%, I don't know what i'll do if I can't get the employee discount thru Cingular. Probably stay w/VZW since i've not had any real problems with them & i'm unsure w/Cingular.
Alltel released their V3C today and have it listed at $199 for a 2 year contract. Hopefully VZW will meet or beat that price!!
VZW has been pretty tight-lipped on it, but $199 on 2yr is what the rumors at the corporate store are saying
Too bad for Verizon that ALLTEL beat them to it with the RAZR. I would have expected Verizon to be the first CDMA carrier in the U.S. to offer the RAZR. Great job, ALLTEL.
Here's a link from Howard's on Alltel's RAZR with pics: Alltel's RAZR P.S. Now that I look closer I think it is prototype. Not sure. -- rg56
That's no prototype. Alltel is apparently selling the RAZR virtually unbranded (nothing on the case or battery door, an alltel startup animation, and the "axxess apps" (alltel's GIN) shortcut in the menus. It's encouraging to hear that there's been success in activating alltel RAZRs on VZW. The next step is to see if its possible to reflash a VZW RAZR with the alltel firmware (running Moto's UI).
Someting I've heard from a higher up VZW rep is the 12th of December. He says that the dates are still subject to change, so is the price. The same info has been posted on HoFo by a different poster/different source.
Best Buy has had the Razors in the back for over a month, but recently had to send them back, as there was a firmware issue. My boss had the oppertunity to sneak one out of the box, and tried it. He said the firmware was much better than the Cingular razor. Personally, I today bought a Nokia 6256i (the nokia flip phone) for Verizon. Verizon stores around here dont haver them yet, but Best Buy did . We have 4 more in stock, two of which are going to my parents. This is an amazing phone! Has bluetooth, infared, video, amazing pics, a huge color screen, great ringers, and is better voice quality then ANY phone I've EVER USED! Also has mobile web 2.0 and GIN. Only thing it doesent have is EVDO, and even then, I care less about that than call quality. GO GET ONE, THEY ARE AWSOME!
So your boss likes the VZW RAZR more than the Cingular one, even though the Verizon one has the dumb User Interface on it? I personally hate it. How is call quality/reception compared to other Nokias you've owned?
According to a screenshot on HOFO, full retail will be 679, and two year will be 500...seems a bit absurd to me given that Alltel is selling for half that.
