Seems like that web page listed may be putting out a touch to much info. Either way it is kindof interesting to get a glimpse of how the whole ordeal will work. Oh well that web page may get in trouble for putting that out on the net. But at least it's pumped me up pretty good about the v60p.
If memory serves, that manual is a public document. You can get it from the FCC webpage on the V60p. I think they are in the clear. Past experiences lead me to believe that website is not that accurate though.
JJseminole....I got a closer look at the phone you use today...Holy Crap! What a brick! No wonder you want to switch! I haven't looked at this site yet....take a look at it now... NOPE! Not gonna wait 4 hours for Adobe Download manager to download, have to wait till I get home!
Below is a quote from a HOFO post....... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See thread Moto on PTT , first post.
sorry I tried to search for it on WA, but got an error and was too lazy to retry the search. My bad It was relevant to the thread however. I edited my post to refer to that thread so we don't have to scroll as far on this one.
Heh, Delta yea well I used to have an i95 and it is pretty huge to. Nexthell is just giving me problems not letting me change plans without contract extentions and they are flat out killin their customers on tax.
Here we go again..... I see no V60p manual on that website...the link did nothing, so I went in "manually." Seems like everytime we wind something and post about it it disappears into thin air... Remember..This thread is closely watched by the VZW Cyber squad!
Hmm, I just tried to get that manual to pull up again. And it worked fine on my behalf ... it went straight to the Adobe reader and opened right up. I dunno maybe it could have something to do with Adobe storing cache files since I did look at it earlier. Oh well just thought I'd put my two cents in.
I was able to download it for the first time just now... now I AM really excited about PTT! I just hope all of my friends change out their phones so I can actually use it when it comes out!
OK ...figured it out..had to play with the link a bit. Try this: V60P LINK It is toward the bottom, titled: v60poverview Right click it and save as.
On another note...this thing is going to come in black, isn't it? I hate the black faceplate on V60's. Makes it look like a tuxedo-phone! As far as that V60p download off that website...it tells a lot of stuff that I thought was hush-hush. I guess the rate plans will be the big thing, and those I can't (won't) talk about!
I read about the rate plans somewhere, maybe on HoFo...not sure. It was a month or so ago. Someone spilled the beans though.
Delta - the link you posted is a different one than the one hossein24 posted earlier. The first one was 31 pages all about how to use PTT while the one you posted was about the V60p in general. Matt - can you post what they said the rate plans were going to be? I dont go over to HoFo so I never got to see the rate plans. I remember hearing about $10 for 300 minutes but i am not sure if thats the real rate plans. By the way its nice to see your old icon back again...
Huh...I wasn't able to make the first link work for me. I don't have Adobe on the computer, so again I'll have to wait till tonight to to try it again. The $10 for 300 minutes is false. (though I could see something like that in the future) The real rate plans are proprietary info and we aren't allowed to post them. Very competitive with Nextels rates though.
Hey Delta, you know that survey you quote in your signature surveyed less than one-half of one percent of all wireless users? It is worthless. You cannot glean any significance from a survey with such a small sample size. Not to mention NEXTEL was a very close second to Verizon.
Hey! Who's side are you on, anyway! Don't make me break out Consumer Reports and Wall Street Journal too!
I will look for the thread and try to post a link. I don't want to be accused of leaking proprietary information. Someone else in here seems to have read/heard the same rumour (yes, I spelled it the British way, it looks better that way!) that I did though.
Hey, I'm not arguing that Verizon isn't the best (I am not admitting they are the best either) just that that particular survey is terribly flawed. The Consumer Reports article was pretty bad too (and I subscribe to it) because it was very dated. It was probably 8 months old when it was published, LOL.
Well, hey, if you find anything more current, let me know. I am always looking for this stuff. Right now I want to find statistics on how many customers VZ added this year to date. I know first qtr they added more than next 4 competitors combined, and a mill and a half last qtr.
Actually, I did see a different result once...being that you live here in Columbus, did you catch that 10 TV report about 6 months ago? It was ridiculous. They basically took 1 of everyones phone and went to 5 spots in Columbus. For whatever reason in their scientific evalution, (it was modeled after the "Can U hear me now?" commercials) they rated Sprint, Cingular, and At&t Best, (The 3 I hear the most complaints about), Verizon and Nex(cough!) Second, and T Mobile in the toilet. And they even said during the segment that the Sprint phone was dropping calls like a hot rock! It was totally ridiculous. Of course they were using an older V60 for VZW...the ones with the echo problem. Heck if we based it on the T720, Verizon would be the worst!
I just thought that I would throw this out there: Do you think maybe it is possible that Verizon realizes that this childish suite that Nextel has against them involving the "PTT" and "Push-To-Talk" trademarks is a waste of time, so maybe they will change the name of the service to circumvent Nextel's weak plan to stall the realase? I was thinking perhaps all of the v60p phones that were already manufactured could have had the phrases "Push-To-Talk" and "PTT" embedded in them, therefore, they are being shipped back and will have new software loaded to them that removes the words and maybe that is the cause for Phonescoop.com reporting that the v60p will be out in October. Meanwhile, perhaps the Samsung SCH-A690 has not been mass produced as of yet, but they are getting ready and have not run into the problem that Moto may have run into. Just a theory to think about. On the other hand, the comments I have been reading lately, especially from yesterday make me very excited and I really think that it will be here before we think.
