I have the buildplan for 2004 which was the first draft (January) ... there was no date set on Roan Mountain, TN however it was remarked as a canidate. Will be interesting to see what the next buildplan says.
Is that just for your area? Who exactly get's these? Cause some reps should read up on this kind of stuff.
Roan Mountain is in Carter County and so is serviceable and fixable by VZW; Mountain City isn't, unless Commnet decides to dump their license for Johnson County. -SC
I will be interested to see what they do for that as well. As it stands the reception up in Roan Mountain is less than adequate. I hope they do something to improve in that area.
I tell you what sucks is us authorized dealers don't get any information until something actually happens. that is why i spend my time on here and on howard forums.
I bet! I really want to know what the 8900 is going to do. I have been offered 175-70MIR for it, and am seriously considering it. I bet I could get it down a little bit more too. But, the 70$ rebate expires on May 9th, and I am not sure if the deal would be better or worse after then.
No...I am a bit bothered by what appear to be capacity issues around Atlanta, but I haven't lost faith in VZW by any means. -SC
I spoke with my RF buddy in DC last week, he said they are having some capactiy issues in DC, and are planning to add a few sites in Downtown (Kst) to alleveiate this. Also said there were some capacity issues during rush hours on rt. 66
When Verizon when to EV-DO did verizon lose any calling channels?? or is it on unused PCS spectrum that Verizon has so no calling channels were lost??
Sectorized antennas? Of the Verizon antennas that I have seen, it appears almost HALF of them in Colorado are Omni! Almost all rural antennas are omni. I can't believe they can handle the traffic, but they do. Of these antennas, I have seen them replace only one omni with a sectorized antenna and that was because they tore down the building they were on. I might add AT&T/TDMA has almost as many Omni antennas, but in recent years they have added some new sites, mostly to allow for 1900 MHz antennas, so as a percentage, AT&T has fewer Omni's than Verizon.
They did it all on PCS as far as I know. That is why the coverage was so limited at first to places where they would put PCS panels up on their 800 sites and still have good enough coverage.
Good to hear about the new sites going up and the VZN is trying to add capacity for the DC area, hopefully it will not take too long.
Eloqui appears to be migrating from TDMA to GSM per Eloqui (aka Tennessee RSA 3 LP) being listed on GSMWorld. Eloqui is definitely NOT going CDMA; the chance of that happening went away when the independent phone companies that control Eloqui took control of TN-3 back from USCC. -SC
Well, Eloqui going GSM will benefit Cingular & AT&T customers in the surrounding areas, most notably in Claiborne Co, where the last I remember, there was no GSM and it was either TDMA roaming with a GAIT handset or a paperweight with a GSM handset. I haven't been up there with a CDMA phone in awhile, but I remember it being analog roaming on Eloqui up there in a few areas. I'm surprised Eloqui even has the money to migrate to GSM. Their rate plans are terrible.
