If the posts on other forums are correct, starting Monday 1/17, VZW will re-vamp their Family share ...

FS will be available on America'sChoice plans only, & the flat monthly fee will include 2 lines, additional past 2 are $9.99ea.

$59.99 / 500mins, Free long distance, Unlim Nght/weekends & unlim "IN", on both VZW network as well as almost all exteded roaming partners... also ....
    $79.99/1000, 99.99/1500, 149.99/2500, $199.99/3500, 299.99/6,000 - all include 2 lines & above unlim for life.

The regular "single" AC will be seperate plans, starting with $39.99/450, $59.99/900, $79.99/1350, $99/2000, 149/3000, $199/4000, 299/6000 , again with all the unlim mentioned above...

    That's pretty good news indeed.

Knowing how hard it is for VZW to give additional minutes or lower their rates, I'm sure a lot of people will be jumping onto the new plans.

I'm going to inquire if I can get a free upgrade for the 50 additional minutes on the AC 400. Signed a new 1 year back in september but will have to see.

Right now they are giving 500 total on the single $39.99 (400+100) AC plan, but that will change to 450 Monday, so if you need, just call Cust svc, & change to the current "500" total plan. You will only need to "reset" your contract date to today, & you'll get 500 instead of 450 .....

I wish Cingular had AT&T's policy, as long as it was a 2 year agreement, on any plan you could add a line for $9.99.

I am glad to see Verizon dropping down to $9.99 for the shared lines, and the minute plans for the family are looking a bit better. I wonder if their 4th quarter numbers had slowed a bit?

Are they gonn make the $9.99 deal permanant? And if so, will they cut the prices for everyone on Family Share AC already? I know they updated everyone's rate when they cut the extra $10 for IN on all secondary family lines.

I'm probably not renewing my contract because I could only get an extra 100 minutes at $59.99 a month, which is what I could get right now. I use a lot of IN and off-peak minutes. Maybe now my parents and in-laws will all stay with VZW.

if this is actually what is going to happen, i hope they do keep it that way. it would be smart for them to do so. verizon has yet to offer anything remotely competitive, as far as pricing, since ive been an agent.

Their network has been a big non-pricing advantage, but Cingular is working hard to get GSM out to all parts of the country. It's still considered the more reliable, but things may begin even out once the Cingular and ATTWS networks are merged.

Is Sprint ever going to do the $10 extra line thing?

I don't think their numbers have slowed, I heard somewhere that they added(of course that's not a confirmed number) 1.6 million in Q4.
OF course they have to become more competitive, since they want to regain the number one spot rather sooner than later.
Great, Verizon, I will be jumping ship to the new plans, get more peak minutes and save money.

Now Sprint needs to get with the game, and lower their add-on lines down to $9.99 on shared lines to remain competitive within all of the other carriers. ;)

I'm sure they'll be forced to come up with something now if they want to compete...

Are you sure they have the 100 extra min on single AC plans? I checked VZW website and it doesn't say anything about it. Only FS plans get extra minutes.

Share plans have not been that competive because the add a line was higher than the other providers.
I hope they can do the same with prepay. lower rates to something competive.

According to meatchicken VZW gives 100 extra min now. On 17th, it will only give 50 extra minutes.

Just got of the phone with VZW CSR. and she told me that current promo (100 extra min) only applies to FS plans.

This is actually a different promo. The ones discussed by the CSR are current. The ones in this thread are confidential and not out yet. A source on HoFo says these plans will be out January 17.

    They already do...

F&F Family 800 includes 2 lines with additional lines at $10 each. Ovevrage is just 5 cents/minute. For $10 more than VZW, you get 300 more anytime minutes and much cheaper overage, however you do sacrifice a bit of coverage and network quality.

Many others on the forums don't think this advantage (more minutes for your money) will help TMO, but is it helping Sprint?

I can even get a 20% discount through work, but you don't see me leaving VZW.

I know. I was not talking about Jan 17 promos. According to meatchicken you can get 100 extra minutes on a INDIVIDUAL AC plan now and not only on FS. But VZW CSR said NO. It is ONLY for the Family Share. So if i have single AC plan 39.99 i CAN'T get extra minutes (400 + 100).

I'm pretty sure that's right. The website says AC FS gets 100 bonus minutes. Maybe meatchicken got confused.

But that's only on F&F. What about the other plans?

F&C is still $20 per extra phone. In that case, I could also say that they don't....

The only price plan that offers 100 bonus extra minutes is "ACFSB", which is the 100 bonus share line. It is only available as a secondary line, I suppose you could use it as a primary line with only 100 mintues if the rep screwed up bad.

$20 a month for 100 minutes? Would prepaid be cheaper?

    wgray8231 - uh...

virgin mobile is 25c for first 10min of the day, 10c/min thereafter. say you used all the minuted in one day.

    .25x10 = 2.50, 20-2.50=17.50, 17.50/.10= 175min.

So a $20 Virgin top-up is good for 185 min if used in one day... more economical than $20/mo, considering the $20 topup lasts 90 days.

Verizon pay-as-you-go is 25c to connect, 10c/min. So if all $20 were used in one call, you'd get even more minutes than virgin.

To recap, yes, the $20/mo is horrible for 100 min (There MAY be unlimited IN, though, hmm...).

You seemed to miss the fact that it's only available on VZW America's Choice Plans. See MeatChicken's post below:

In addition, I don't see why one would choose a F&C over the F&F. Only the F&C with 1 AAP is cheaper at $60 for 500 shared minutes, however it would be $20/additional line. F&F 800 is $10 more for 800 shared minutes on 2 lines and each additional line is only $10.

The IN might make it worth while if you do a lot of talking to other VZW customers. Then free N&W would really be a deal. We should stop dreaming.
