My wife and I purchased two VX8600 phones a couple weeks ago. We both use bluetooth and Bitpim (0.9.14 - official) to transfer a few ringtones and wallpapers. Here's the kicker: her phone is fine, but everytime I try to delete a SENT text, my phone restarts. At first I thought it was a glitch with my phone, so I went back to the store and swapped it out. I'm now on my third VX8600 and it's still having the same problem. I'm convinced it has something to do with either Bitpim or the files I'm transferring over (each no larger than 400 kb = total of about 3 MB) because I don't have the problem until I do my first transfer. I'm just having difficulty diagnosing the problem because I don't want to mess up my wife's phone, which is working just fine. Has anyone else run into this problem? There are no other symptoms that I've run across besides the restart problem -- the SENT text does get deleted. Thanks!
Welcome to WA painukim. Although I've never used Bitpim on my handsets, it does sound like this could be the problem. I would call Verizon's tech support at 1-888-233-4813 from a land line phone, in order for them to go over the LG's phone settings with you.
Thanks for the welcome MobilePrincess. I *think* I've discovered what the problem is, and thankfully it's neither tied to Bitpim or anything I've done. Rather, it's a glitch with the software Verizon has installed on all VX8600. Turns out, whenever anyone with a VX8600 creates a shortcut to their Inbox (any one of the directional keys) and then uses the "right" directional key to go into their Sent texts box to delete a Sent text, their phone will restart. I went into the Verizon shop and did some troubleshooting with a tech buddy there. A bunch of the sales reps carry the VX8600 phones -- they configured one of their directional keys as a shortcut to their Inbox, slid over to their Sent texts box, deleted a text, and *whammo*. They all restarted. So they've sent in one of their official "this-is-a-known-issue" up the Verizon food chain. Hopefully it will be remedied. Until then, I'll use the left soft key to get into my Sent messages to delete them. Thanks again!
Not always true. I just tried going into my sent messages a different way other than the shortcut and it froze. My phone has the same problem with restarting. The only way i overcome this problem is by locking messages and then going to erase all.
