That is normal. The manufacturers will swear up and down that they don't know what carrier will have the phone even if it's already branded for a specific carrier.

it's going to be expensive. and therefore i dont think i'll get one!!! i guess i'll look more toward the v710. specially if the EVDO is gonna be about $80 a month. forget that. im not gonna use that much data.

the 710 is going to be even more awesome if the plans for the 8000 are $80/month!

where did yuo get this $80 a month estimate? it looks like yuo just pulled a number out of thin air. and if you didnt what does the $80 a month get you? unlimited data?

If you read the original posted link, the first paragraph contains:

"Unfortunately, Verizon's BroadbandAccess, which is based on CDMA EVDO technology, costs nearly $80 per month and has no handsets available, only PC Cards for your laptop."

Hopefully if/when nation wide EVDO is launched the price will drop though.

If they were to drop it by $79.99 I think I would have to take a look at switching also :browani:

I'm sure that there will be some change in the plans if/when nation wide EVDO is launched.

That's unlimited access for a laptop. It's the same as the 1xRtt rates.

Hmm..My plan right now is just over $100/month, so $80 would be nice, but this is just a data plan, right?

Hey guys look at the FCC tests on that phone its one step better in Digital than Vx-7000 and what I understand Vx-7000 is a very good phone for Verizon in Digital. If this one gets better recepition it may be good to buy that for people like me that go into rural areas from time to time.
Maybe one day Broadband Access will be at $65.99 or $59.99 then a few of you guys will probably use it.

I think that the $80/month is for unlimited data, no voice minutes included..

wonder how long after the V710 hype settles down the 8K will come to Verizon, also whatever happened to the LG 6100K? is this one still going to US Cellular?

No hurt feelings, I think that the 8k is better looking than the 7k, I'm not sure how long my swivel camera idea will last..
