Turn phone off take the battery out, if that doesn't work go to menu press 000000 (six times) go to "reset phone settings". and if that doesn't work go to a different store to get your phone replaced..

Good to hear you solve your problem, don't see why it didn't get replaced the first time to begin with...

the lg models go into car kit mode because something got into your phone that makes a connection inside the charging port on the brass tip. once your phone goes into car kit mode. it tells the tech one thing... misuse of your phone. 9 times out of 10 there will be a fee of 50 dollars for the phone and if your contacts can be transfered an additional 10 dollars. good luck with this.

from what i seen over and over here on the boards and other forums is that moisture or water damage is one main reason that LG's go into "car kit mode".

i went through 3 vx7000's in 3 weeks with the same problem that you were having. mine started a month before my warranty was up. i was able to talk verizon into giving me a new 710 and this was about 6 months ago.

they told me first it was the charging port, but not till they ripped the battery off to look for the moisture indicater on the battery. my phone had never been wet.

i understand your frustration and hope they take care of you. let me know if you need help and good luck.

Another common culprit tends to be dust or dirt shorting out the connector pins for headset or the car kit mode in the connector port. This occurs frequently with Nokia GSM phones and their pop port connectors. Maybe this wasn't the case here but it's another possibility for any phone using an accessory port with pins.

thats not true. I had a 7000 and it went in to car kit mode and so did the 3 replacement phones given to me. It was the plug for the earpiece going bad/defective. I quit using the ear piece and had no more problems.

At this point i think most have had their phones repair or replaced, this thread is from 2005...

just for the record, with some LG's, some models were going into "car kit mode" if it got wet, that was a known problem, LG has solved that issue now.
