VX6000 and message to AT&T address

I tried sending email from my LG vx6000 to an AT&T cell phone with the <number>@mobile.att.net address. All that happens is the message being bounced back with some text inserted in the domain name.

I can send email to a regular email address or to another Verizon address, no problem.

Any ideas as to what's up?

I've had trouble with it too. I don't know why this doesn't work.
