I just bought an LG VX4500 after my trusty 2-year old Motorola v60 died. I can't seem to get the "Silence All" mode to activate. The user manual (p. 24) says the left upper & lower side keys (when closed) or "#" key (when open) toggle between Normal/Manner/Silence modes, but all they do is toggle Normal/Manner. Actually, it's just the lower side key; the upper side key has no effect when closed AFAIK. The voice command key (when closed) toggles Driving Mode active/inactive. Has anyone gotten "Silence All" mode to work with this model? Thanks
With the flip open, toggle (tap) the upper side key down (screen shows ringer volume) until silent shows on the screen. If you have version 1 firmware, you must press OK to keep the change. V2 does not require you to confirm with OK. To change back, reverse the steps.
Manner mode is silence all....with vibrate....maybe they don't want it to vibrate? Just turn the blasted thing off....I am lost.
Many thanks to lbudd for providing the correct answer! To those of you who suggested holding the voice key or "*" key for three seconds, those do not work, as I said in my original post, (actually I said "#", that was a typo, sorry, I meant "*"). This feature is incorrectly documented in the manual. star key toggles Manner Mode (vibrates) voice key toggles driving mode Yes, CWick, Silence All Mode is Manner Mode without vibrating. Thanks again.
The phone speaks the name or number of the person callling so you don't have to look at the screen to see, I think, could be a handy feature. I think it also allows you to speak the name of the person you want to call, not sure though.
Dude, I had the 4500 myself and that's what I did to make it work. The other guy also said that holding down the * key for 3 seconds put it in manner mode for him - http://www.wirelessadvisor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574 and he said that just a few days ago.
They are not the same thing, dude. They are described as 2 separate, distinct modes in the manual. 1. "Manner" mode vibrates on incoming calls. 2. "Silence All" mode does not vibrate (LED just flashes). "Manner" mode does in fact work as you described it using the "*" key. My original question was only about the "Silence All" mode, however.
To Get Silence All You Must Open The Flip And On The Lower Side Key, Not The Voice Key, The Down Side Button, That Changes Ringer Volume. If You Press It It Goes From 7.high And Vib. 6.high 5.med High 4.med 3.med Low 2.low 1.silent!!!!!!!!!! Silent Will Show A Little Icon In The Status Bar On The Top Of The Screen With A Music Note With A Slash Through It!!!!
This is the first time I used this forum. I had the "Silence All" today and the solution in my case was holding the "*" for three seconds. Thanks
