K, So I came home and am now in a Verizon market. I tried to do a *228 update to my phone and it locked up during "Powering Down". Now my phone will not update the PRL!!! It goes through and says it is successful but resorts to PRL version 50001?!?!??!? That obviously is not right... Plus, where I had 1x before, now it says D. I deleted all the pics / games I uploaded via BitPim... Now it doesn't lock up during "Powering Down" but the PRL never gets updated... Anyone run into this?!?!? I need the right PRL before I go back up to school!!!
The newest PRL is actually 50001. I just got it today on my phone too. I have no idea why they number it the way they do, but this is the case. They are talking about it over at HoFo too.
I just updated my PRL on my 4400 today and it displays 50074. I imagine the PRL should be the same for all like phones, regarddless of location. Correct? Oppie
I just did *228 and my PRL stayed at 50001. I was under the impression that as long as you are on the AC plan the PRL would be the same everywhere. I have no idea why it would be one thing in WI, OH, and NJ and another in WA. Perhaps they are slow to get it updated and into the system up there?
I called VZW this afternoon. I'm told that the current PRL is 50074....Is there somewhere we can go to get a definitive answer? Oppie
I had to get my 4400 replaced because when I took my old 4400 yesterday to get it flashed to software version 06 they fried it. They gave me a new 4400 and when I checked the prl it was 072, so I did the *228 and updated it. It then showed up as 01. This baffled me so I tried it nurmerous times and it didnt change. Previously it was 074 on my old 4400. I took it back to the store and they got me another one and it still showed 01 after the update. this is obviously not right, how can they go from 074 to 01? backwards. Anyways they told me to just see if it works or not. So i was driving home tonight in a rural area where I have always gotten full bars and I had 1 bar the entire way home. And in my driveway I had one bar, and I always get a solid 4 or 5 bars. And it took about a minute to make a call. Then in my room in my basement where I get 1 or 2 bars, Im getting a "searching for service" banner. So something is obviously not right here, the 01 prl must be ancient and its not cool to not be able to use your phone. I hope someone figures this one out...
thats interesting...is it different for different markets ? in in jersey/nyc area and 50074 is the latest one i have.
It makes no sense to have different PRL's for different markets on the AC plan. I could understand a difference in local plans, but the AC plan is the same (or should be) everywhere. If you call CS and ask why you have PRL 50001 they say the most up to date PRL is 50074...so I don't know what is going on here in the midwest.
Ok let me throw a wrench into this.... LG VX4400 S/W Version 05 PRL: 50077 ERI: 50018 Just did the *228. Janesville Wisconsin (Beloit Market) National Single Rate Plan. (no Roam / L.D.) Go Figure...
What is the difference to "Press 1 to Program your phone" or "Press 2 to update Roaming Lists" when you dial *228?
Pressing 1 is what you do when you first activate the phone...it gets your phone number programmed into the phone and downloads network stuff like Home SID's, Network priorities (Auto A or B), and the PRL. Option 2 only does the PRL. You never need to do option 1 unless you switch phones.
I'm new here but thought I'd add this bit of info. I just updated my phone (w/ver 06) and I have PRL 50085. I'm in Michigan.
