I saw an ad by LG for an upgraded version to the 8100, the 8300. Looks kind of cool but there's nothing about it on phonescoop. Does anyone know about this phone?

    Update:

Here is a link on the phone:

I just heard a Verizon Wireless commercial on the way in to work today that leads me to believe the 8300 will be here soon. They are offering the VX8100 as a buy one, get one free now with a new 2 year activation.

I have done some searching around the net but so far have not been able to find out much other than basic specs on the camera in the 8300. Has anyone heard if it will be an improvement over the 8100? I have seen the side-by-side comparison of pictures taken with the 8000 and the 8100 and the camera in the 8100 was obviously a huge downgrade. I am hoping LG will reverse this mistake on the 8300.

I like the looks of the 8300 a little more than the 8100. If reception/battery life is improved I may take a closer look at it myself, and I've become a Moto fan. :)

Phonescoop has a page for this phone now. The manual is on the Verizon site and the stores have rebate slips for them. In other words, this phone should be out within the next month. I just am not sure if its worth giving up my ne2 to try and early upgrade - have to wait til october.

People over at HoFo are reporting that the 2 year price will only be $99. 1 year price will be $149 and full retail price will only be $249!! Also rumors of a $50 rebate! If that price holds up, I will have to pick one up! I've had my phone for 10+ months now and I don't think I can wait until Oct. for my NE2!!! I need a new toy!!

Yeah, if it comes out soon - I may try and bug Verizon to give me a deal for an early upgrade. I don't own an ipod - would this anyway be a substitute?

testman.verizonwireless.com has had it in for quite a while now I believe, so then it doesn't surprise me that it's now showing up for sale.

I was told at my local VZW corperate store that they will start selling the 8300 as soon as all the 8100 are gone. They only had 6 8100's left as of 11am yesterday!! Hopefully they will all sell out this weekend and the 8300 will be out on monday(6/5/06)!! If anyone wants a 8100, go to the eastside Madison,WI VZW store!!

Got mine a couple days ago. Great phone. As has been said in other reviews, my only complaint is that text messages can't be read from the front display. The flash UI is pretty cool. The animations that come preloaded are kind of cheesy but impressive nonetheless.

Reception, voice quality and battery life are all very good.

NYC store didn't have on display but the rep had one, same with Motorola Q. They will sell both.

My guess (in NYC store) is that they are only selling to people who ask until they liquidate the 8100 inventory.

Did u try your zipcode at VZW's website? Anyway, within a week they should have it. Just tell the rep that you only want to buy that phone and it is available in many zipcodes online. They will find a way to sell it to you rather than have you walk out - provided you are not stuck in a contract and ineligible for upgrade...

They will sell it to you. Alternatively, call 18002joinin and tell them you want to sign up and order that phone. They will ship it to you quick.
