    Hi there,

My wife and I have 3120's and we each have a problem.

    1. My phone shows the wrong icon when I have voicemail. Instead of the envelope, I get what looks like a roll of film, two circles connected by a line at the bottom. I don't have any text, IM, or multimedia messages in my inboxes.

    2. My wife's shows the right envelope, but hers won't disappear after she checks her messages.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    The icon used is carrier-dependent.

Currently, T-Mobile's voicemail platform sends a text message (you will see the envelope icon) telling you that you have a voicemail message. They are switching to a different voicemail platform sometime next year, and it's hoped that the tape icon (what you describe above) will be used with the new platform.

Other carriers such as Cingular and Verizon, use the tape icon when a voicemail message is received.

It would appear that your phone is correctly displaying the tape icon when you have a voicemail message.

For clearing the icon, check the Message menus to see if there is a selection to clear the icon. I've seen such a selection on some Nokia models.

Most of my messages are not worth saving. I listen, press 7 to erase and the icon is gone.
