Currently, I use two cell phones when I travel, one for the USA and the other for Europe. In the USA I've used Virgin Mobile for over a few years now. Their rates are good, and there are no roaming charges. In Europe, I use a GSM phone with a SIM card. I'm looking to purchasing an unlocked Motorola RAZR GSM that I can use in both the USA and Europe, and to switching to T-Mobile.

Will T-Mobile Prepaid work on that RAZR GSM phone? Do you get a SIM card? What is T-Mobile's coverage compared to Virgin Mobile's, which piggy-backs on Sprint? Are T-Mobile's rates and services similar or better to Virgin Mobile?

You can get an unlocked Razr GSM phone that can be used in both the US & Europe since the phones are Quad band phones.
If you buy a Pre-paid T-Mobile phone it would come with the SIM but the phone will be locked, so you would need to get it unlocked for traveling to Europe.

As for their coverage, it is going to be close to Virgin Mobiles, but it all depends on where you would use it & need it. Your best bet is to use their Street level map to see how the coverage is for where you need the phone, it may very well be their coverage is less in some area's then Virgin's.

You also may want to look into Cingular's Go Phone or their standard plans, since you can use an Unlocked phone on Cingular & depending on where you live have better coverage, and use the phone oversea's as well.
