They just anounced on the radio here that Mike Tice will not be brought back next season. I think this is the first firing of the year. Let the silly season begin!:browani:

    The first of many...

Detroit should make a good decision for once and keep the interim coach they have right now.

    A respectable effort today.

I could not agree more Zaphod...talk about a coach losing TOTAL control, wow. There is plenty of time for pleasure cruising now. Listen, the Vikings have been on a cruise for 2 years now anyway. Congrats to the new owners for having a set of :censored: . Now Buickman, your team can begin to earn back their great tradition and respect.

    Respectable indeed Chuikov!!!

Now the Ford family needs to take care of the Execution of Matt Millen and they have some hopes and prayers of them returning to being a great team again. Just draft another 10 wide receivers and hope someday Joey can reach them........sorry dude, it must be tough. Happy New Year Chuikov!!!

    Packers fire head coach Sherman

Black Monday has struck in Green Bay.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Packers have fired head coach Mike Sherman. General Manager Ted Thompson informed his coach that the franchise was heading in another direction early this morning.
The move comes one day after the Packers took a 23-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks, albeit a Seahawks team that was resting for the playoff run. The win left the Packers with a 4-12 season, which ties for their worst record since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule in 1978.

Green Bay will move swiftly to begin interviewing candidates to replace him including Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress and former Packers' first-round pick and Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis.

In Sherman's six seasons as coach, in which he amassed a 57-39 record, he helped the Packers win three NFC North Division titles. He also won two of the six playoff games the team played in under his direction.

With injuries decimating the Packers this year, Sherman was never able to get his team out of the injury-bug rut. Despite the fact that Brett Favre was physically able to lead the troops, his surrounding cast looked terrible at times.

How this move affects Favre's decision is unknown. Does he wait around to see who the next coach is and if so, does he want to play in a new regime? At the same time, does playing for a new coach re-energize the future Hall Of Famer?

The team is expected to announce the move later today.

All I can say, is it is about time.

    Your welcome.

I know. But I was glad that it was made official. :)

We will just have to wait and see if Favre stays or goes.

I heard a rumor about who the Saints want to hire & they think that Favre will follow him. I don't think it's Sherman, but I can't remember who...

Boy oh boy did they hire Childress in a hurry. Wilf had to be thinking about him from the beginning of December. I think he's talked to him previously.

And Tomlinson is the new Def Coordinator.

    They are moving quickly!
