For the past few weeks, AT&T outgoing MMS has been very, VERY slow. During the day, it will take about 20 minutes, minimum, for my to receive an MMS from AT&T. During peak usage times, after 5pm and weekends, it will take hours and hours to get through to me, if at all. This seems to be a problem when sending to all carriers, from different regions. I have so far found this to effect users in Western NY, as well as NH. Have any other AT&T users experienced this?
I have had some of the same issues with AT&T MMS. Things seem to be normal as of now, I sent a test MMS just to see, partly to kill my prepaid AT&T balance, though. It seems to be an up and down thing with MMS on AT&T. I sent a MMS from my Verizon to my AT&T phone and it was received in less than 2 minutes. I haven't received my MMS that I sent from my AT&T phone... EDIT: I just received my MMS on my Verizon phone 15 minutes later.
So this seems to be a nationwide issue. This is getting quite annoying. 15 minutes seems to be lucky.
i see this issue when sending to another mobile device on another carrier or to an email, but not as much when sending to another AT&T user.
I still have issues with MMS. In my experience, it’s a hit-or-miss with AT&T MMS. It does not matter if the other person is with AT&T or another carrier since I have had issues during both cases. Sometimes the person will get my message within a few minutes (this is during a good day). During other times, they never receive my MMS so I have to resend it. And then there are the times when I send it and they will get it several hours later (often between 1 to 10 hours). MMS service with AT&T is the most inconsistent experience that I have ever seen, especially considering I have been with several different carriers over the years.
well put. it is very hit or miss on a day to day basis.. but on average it seems like at&t to at&t is better then at&t to other.
I agree with you. Yesterday I tried to send a MMS to my sister (who is on our AT&T FS plan) and she never got it so I had to resend it. So in my experience, even AT&T to AT&T is bad.
the only person that i have really MMS'd or SMS'd that i know is on AT&T as well, has the exact same model of phone so maybe that has something to do with it.
Gamer this has been an issue with me too. Most times I have to send one to someone...I copy their email address. Most times it goes right through to the email address, but delayed by hours to his sprint phone. It is hit or miss. Just yesterday I sent him 2...and they both came right through to him. AT&T is throttling data traffic...so I guess if we send our MMS's during a time they aren't messing with the traffic they go right through. I've heard of people all over the US..not just one market or region.and different phone models...with the same problem. Gamer and Yankees...my friend tells me MMS on Sprint is not like at&t. He said you get a link to the website to view or download the photo....that it doesn't get sent to the phone like at&t does. Is that how it is on all phones on their system? My friend is using a Treo.
That is not true for most newer phones. Older phones must link to a website to view the phones, but almost all phones, for quite some time now, go directly to the phone.
I am having some issues as well. When someone sends me an MMS from a Sprint phone to an ATT phone with an attachment, the attachment is not visible unless I forward the MMS to someone. Once i select the person address from my address book, the picture shows up in the forward message before i send it. Very weird.
i'm thinking to switching to at&t and have been to 5 different stores and sent both sms and mms messages to my verizon cell phone and received the text within a minute or two every time..
Perhaps Smartphones have the right idea to use email instead of MMS, with ATT at least. I sent an MMS to an ATT friend and it arrived sometime that day, not sure when. However the email goes through in a snap. If you can, try sending a 640 x480 photo as an MMS, ATT to Sprint, and vice versa. It would be interesting to see if that works faster. If the phone can't resize to 640, 480, maybe do it on your PC, transfer it to the phone and then send the MMS. It would test whether the larger sized photos are the problem with ATT, MMS's feature. Just a thought, VF
