Explain this to me....the way big, bad Verizon Wireless sees it, if I talk to my friend Todd for 1,000 minutes, who also has Verizon Wireless, on the weekend (which weekends are unlimited and FREE for me) my 1,000 Mobile-to-Mobile minutes are then used up and essentially useless as my nights and weekends are FREE anyway and shouldn't even touch my Mobile-to-Mobile minutes. When asked about this problem I was informed that I could remedy the situation by dialing *67 before I make a call on the nights and weekends thereby blocking my number (which I think is totally rediculous because then my friends will never know when I'm calling them). So after arguing with multiple Customer Service idiots I decided to cancel my contract with them and go with T-Mobile and am very happy with my free phone, good coverage (I live in South Jersey), and affordable plan. It's ashame they had to lose a good customer like myself over one of the biggest hoaxes in the cell-phone industry. My advice to all those who think the 1,000 Mobile-to-Mobile minutes are a good deal is Think Again.
That's odd, I could have SWORN it said someplace that nights-and-weekends were first depleted. [BTW, I deleted the accidental duplicate post.]
Apparently it depends on where you are. Some smaller markets around the country bill it differently. In California (and apparently Jersey, so I don't know why he's posting it here on the Western forum), Bud is correct. My remedy for now is to call people on their home phone on the weekend or at night. I'm sure when more people figure this out they'll have to change it. I agree, it's total BS. I'm glad you're happy with T-Mobile and it works for you out there. I had to cancel it here, it just doesn't work where I need it to.
Hey Bud? I just noticed that you posted this in EVERY FORUM. Please don't do that. Just post it in one forum, and pick whichever forum you think is most appropriate. Thank you.
When I signed up for Verizon, I was told up front that my minutes would be depleted in the following order: anytime Mobile-to-mobile N/W If I know I'm going to call after 8:00 pm (I'm lucky enough to still have this plan), then I'm sure as heck not going to call their cell phone! I'll call their land line knowing that I'm now using my N/W minutes which are unlimited anyway. If it's before my N/W minutes are going to kick in, then I'll use my M2M knowing those minutes are more plentiful than the AC plan I chose (I have the 400 minutes shared family plan). Jodi
So does this mean if next time I want to talk to someone who also has Verizon, but don't want to use my M2M minutes I should dial *67 first? Does that really work? For both ends?
*67 just blocks your called id, it changes nothing about the way the call is billed in the system. I know here in Michigan that if you are on the unlimited nights and weekends plan like I am that your mobile to mobile minutes are deducted only when you call another Verizon customer during peak times, otherwise it comes off your night and weekend minutes. I assume that if you have a limited number of night and weekend minutes that it would deduct from those first and then from your mobile to mobile after the N/W minutes are depleted.
I didnt know carriers did this. With Sprint, they take pcs2pcs first, if that is how you are placing the call. If you run out of those pcs2pcs minutes, then the next step is to take minutes from either your anytime or N/W...depending on what time of the day it is. Fortunately now, pcs2pcs is unlimited, so there would never be an issue like the one you are experiencing with Verizon. Hopefully you will find a resolution....good luck to you
What do you mean, "if that's how you place the call"? I assume you just dial the number... does your phone pop up a dialog box saying, "Would you like this to be a PCS2PCS call?"
