I disagree, Quint. If Verizon wanted to give someone a plan or something to keep people from leaving, it would mean more minutes, more (free) features, etc. UNLESS the person only uses a few amounts of minutes every month and doesn't need a lot of features, etc.
I didn't mean that the plan would be only used as a save plan. I personally think that the offering is a great idea. It brings a new price point for contract plans that are only seen on TMobile, Sprint, or Prepaid... the plan makes wireless that much more affordale...If someone cites pricing as a reason for leaving, the plan can serve as a save plan.
I'm 62 and most of the people I know who are over 65 have cell phones. Of course my group is made up of healthy and active people. The only people over 65 that I know of who don't have cell phones are shut ins. I think the plan, particularly the lower priced is reasonable. Most of these people are not heavy users of a cell phone. They rely on landlines mostly and I think are unlikely to give them up. However, for a senior without a landline neither of these plans is of much value. This group gets many calls every day. From kids making sure you woke up , to friends making plans for dinner, to Grandkids who just want to talk. These plans just don't have the minutes for that. However, Cellular One and some others have plans in the $50 range with unlimited everything within the local area. Also please don't suggest pay as you go for your parents unless you are willing to do it for us. We have too much to remember, from taking our pills to planning our next party to worry about watching the remaining minutes on a cell phone.
