Verizon Wireless Drops Monthly Fee for V CAST Music Service
News by Michelle Ruhfass on Monday July 31, 2006.

Today Verizon Wireless announced the next generation of their VCAST Music service and accessories along with their new pay-as-you-go pricing structure. VCAST Music is an over the air mobile music download service available only to Verizon customers. Customers can now browse, preview and download music from Verizon's 1.3 million song catalog without paying a monthly fee. Verizon Wireless has dissolved their VCAST VPak monthly charges, allowing more freedom for users to choose and download music on VCAST.

VCAST users now have choices on how to manage and store their music. Customers can download songs directly to their phones for $1.99 plus airtime, download directly to their Windows XP PC's for $.99, or transfer their current MP3 files and playlists to their mobile phones for free. In addition to the new pricing structure, Verizon has added a new line of accessories directed towards the mobile music user that includes a 2GB microSD card that holds up to 1,000 songs. Other items available are portable speakers, travel accessories, and Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The new service and accessory line are available today at www.verizonwireless.com.

Did they have to pay both a monthly fee & a fee to download the songs? or was it a monthly fee for a certain amount of songs a month?

Did it cost people money before to transfer MP3 files and playlists to their phones? If so, how much?

And what means is the now "free" method? Using a data cable?

Michelle Ruhfass needs to tell VZW CS people about these changes. The web site is still charging for the VCAST Vpak. I guess it will take them time to update the site.

Also, after talking to two different CS's, they said that there is still a 'charge' for th VCAST Vpak.

The left-hand knows NOT what the right-hand is doing, again.

The VCast VPak is not free and will not be...it is still $15.

The change is that non-Vpak subscribers can now access the VCast music store. Previously, if you wanted access to the music store you had to subscribe to the VCast Vpak.

Sorry, just quoting what Michelle Ruhfass had said about the VCAST Vpak monthly charge being dissolved in TNDan21 post.

It is a poorly worded press release...can't argue with that.

Yes, but how many Verizon users have uncrippled their Bluetooth?
